91° here today in Summerville but the dew was 64°. It since has jumped up all the way to 72° so am thinking it is going to be rather oppressive tomorrow outside

Unfortunately companies don’t work like this. We pulled our entire business services (ex. things like accounts payable) from Canada due to their high regulations and what not to relocate some into Mississippi and most into the country of Colombia. Now I completely understand raising tax rates on the wealthy as they’re mostly anchored to a nation, but regulations are tough because companies are smart and can work around them. Multinational companies run things anymore, not countries, so while I’d agree that some of those safety nets would be nice, large companies will simply go where the labor is cheaper and capable, net more money, and beat up the competition that isn’t doing so.

I’ve never said it’s no big deal, if anything my argument is open with social distancing. I believe we all should have to wear masks in an indoor setting, I always have mine on. But heck even Dr Fauci said today keeping everyone locked up over this can be crippling for us. My opinion comes from managing millions of dollars daily and controlling costs while creating projects to become more efficient for a multi-billion dollar corporation. I’m sorry but I really don’t care to hear the opinion of meteorology grad on how our economy should stay closed. I understand everyone’s concerns but if you saw what I do economically on a day to day basis you would be saying the same things, it’s the equivalent of looking at Hurricane Katrina a couple days before landfall and saying you shouldn’t evacuate. Other way around, the people need to go get tested. We have tons of tests here in Charleston, hell there’s two sites within 2 miles of me. That goes back to my original point, no one is really freaked by it so they’re not following the precautions like what you see in Ohio. I almost wish they made people get tested once a month or drive around neighborhoods like an ice cream truck lol

And I laugh at the fact your governor is telling you what you can and can’t buy at the store meanwhile I can go eat BBQ with the guys after golf league. Hoosier, it’s not that I’m a longtime resident, it’s that I’ve experienced this entire event in South Carolina and can not relate at all to what you guys are. It might not rain gold here but hey at least we don’t have 5000 dead like Michigan. Heck we haven’t even hit 10,000 cases yet. Which goes back to most of my posts, it’s shocking to see how scared you guys are of this and my relatives are as well. Other than working from home my life really hasn’t changed which shows just how much more effective warmer weather is at stopping the spread

Either that or it fades out similar to the Spanish Flu. As always the Midwest fear of this ceases to amaze me, and I cannot relate. We've literally had SC open for weeks and no spike has occurred, in fact we are going to open all public attractions as well on Friday. This thing just doesn't seem the be as lethal or spread as quickly in the heat, so summer nationally should buy us all time for better medicines to be developed to manage the symptoms

It'll be interesting to see the career changes that happen in this country. You're going to see a major diaspora of workers from retail, hospitality and dining to ? Hopefully this re-emphasizes the importance of a strong manufacturing sector and desire of these jobs.

The goal was to match the ramp up with the opening. Right now the majority of testing is being done in healthcare facilities, nursing homes and minority-heavy communities where it is disproportionately affecting them. But SC is right in line with the vast majority of states who have tested per 1M people, most are in that $15-25K range with a few outliers.

SC's measures in his opinion “ would optimize your capability of reopening.” “I’d almost want to clone that and make sure other people hear about that and see what you’ve been doing" Our department of health or DHEC is vigorously ramping up tests, hiring contact tracers, and people to maintain the database. In my opinion this is the greatest failure of the Midwest on the whole, instead of finding solutions to open reasonably with strict measures and tracking, those governors by and large have resorted in extreme measures. Why in South Carolina have we not had armed protests and death threats? Because the reasonable solutions have led to mostly reasonable responses from the public. We have curbed a spike in this disease and increased testing considerably, already have statewide antibody testing, and tonight I'm going to play in a golf league and then get BBQ with friends. That is a pipe dream in many of the Great Lakes states because the focus seems off. I love talking weather with you all and seeing how things are going back home, so my heart goes out to everyone for how this is affecting you guys. My fear is the extreme measures are going to lead to greater tragedy and economic loss in an area that needs none of that.

Yeah we had little choice. Tourism is soooo important to this area, that a lot of the talk is why would someone visit from Detroit or Chicago if these coastal communities are full of shuttered businesses. Honestly you you guys are lucky in the Rust Belt to be so dependent on manufacturing right now. Because the service industry is king, the state was basically saying we will be broke unless we figure out some way to open things.

Over Vancouver? I’ve heard that’s considered the best weather in the country. Growing up we would sail and stay on Pelee Island all the time so considering it’s the southernmost point in Canada that is probably the “best weather”
