    Dry air winning over the battle here. Radar looks great just to my west though. Would be a shame not to crack the 6” mark. Oh well. Still a fun storm.

    Measured 5.7” on the SW side of Champaign. In a lull right now, hoping the snow from down near STL can reach us later.

    Ditto. This is a fun storm just in the fact it’s occurring mostly in daylight. The snow is definitely fluffier in nature than I had anticipated. It’s nice and powdery. If we just had any wind, this would be a whiteout.

    Pixie dust falling at a good clip here. Going to estimate right around 3-4”. Heavier returns off to my west. Another 10-12 hours before the snow tapers off.

    ILX seems to have bumped up the totals from a general 6-8” to 6-10” now. So for me it’s double digit or bust. leggo. Just got me a good bottle of whiskey and gonna try and pull an all nighter. Let’s see who wins the booze or the storm

    Yep. He disappeared shortly after Hilary conceded the race. I know we all kind of had suspicion he had a few spam accounts, but even those disappeared. I remember bowmehunter as well, when I first started lurking the sub.

    Local met posted this earlier. A quick shot of cold and snow for the remainder of the week, and then a thaw quickly on its heels. Ugh.

    One of my favorite storms of all time. Seeing heavy snow fall at 15 degrees was incredible. The wind was howling that night, interstates were shut down, and road salt had become ineffective towards the end of the night because of the bitter cold. I remember waking up the following morning to a WC of -44, the numbing cold was unbearable. God what a winter. One I can’t wait to tell my son someday. I swear it seemed every single week we were under some type of WWA or WSW.

    Don’t worry buckeye he’s using the strat warming event as his escape door for 2002-2003 analog not working out. He’s busting out the ole trusty January 1985 analog now on Twitter it’s almost comical.

    Digging through Champaign’s December total snowfall numbers since 2014 and the results are just downright depressing. 2014- T 2015- T 2016- 3” 2017- 5.8” 2018- 1.6” that is a whopping 10.4” COMBINED over the last FIVE December’s. That is just wrong.

    Bingo my friend. Here it started December 2014. We only recorded a T the entire month.

    Our winters In a nutshell since the legendary 2013-2014. We missed out on GHD II completely, we missed the brunt of the big November 2015 storm, and completely whiffed on last months blizzard. Go for something big? Hoosier that mentality has gone out of the window for central Illinois for the last 4 years. We have been nickle and dimed to death. Try not to complain but damn, it’s been brutal here.

    Ha, yes! I mean 4.9” of snow was the snowiest month? Ugh. I’m telling you man, the snow gods have not been on our side the last 4 winters. We were whiffed by that blizzard last month too.
