  1. Had anyone heard of nasty flu viruses going around? I tried to google flu activity for Illinois and couldn’t find an updated chart. My fever is at 103.5. This stuff is no joke boys.
  2. A very warm September ends on a warm note as well. A high of 84 here, 12 degrees above the average high. Not much precipitation in my forecast for the next 7 days neither. Looks like the remnants of Rosa will dump plentiful rain across the upper Midwest though
  3. Bo, I’ve said this many times, but good lord it’s like a different world up there. What I wouldn’t give to lock myself in a cabin with food, beer and good books for a month and watch the snow pile up to my eye balls with a wood burning stove going. Ahhh. Good stuff man.
  4. Yep. Getting to be that time of year where you need a jacket in the morning, and sweating in the afternoon lol. Hows the foliage up there? Everything is still very green here, besides a few of the early leaf changers. Mid to upper 80’s certainly won’t help the cause neither.
  5. I now have 89 in the forecast for Wednesday, gonna be a breezy one around these parts as well. Yesterday ensembles has trended to a very warm second week of October as well. Something to monitor moving forward.
  6. Temps have really skyrocketed under the clear skies 84/70/88 currently.
  7. Skies have cleared, currently under full sunshine, car says 80 degrees currently. It’s humid outside.
  8. Would have to go back and look, but I wonder if 10+ readings of 90 degrees or more has ever occurred in back to back September’s, since records began.
  9. Dropped down to 50 last night, slept with my bedroom window cracked and man, that some good sleep. Euro ensembles really backed off on the potency of the cold shot for late week. It now appears temperatures will be normal to slightly above normal to end the month.
  10. We’ve had 11 readings of 90 degrees or more for the month of September, last September we had 12. Septorcher I’m back to back years. Although this cool down will help chew away at the positive anomalies.
  11. Wow had not read this until now, but on 9/17 with a reading of 94, Champaign broke the old record of 93 set back in 1955. The septorcher carries on until Friday, and the 90s are hopefully gone until next year.
  12. Euro ensembles showing a +PNA to begin October, potentially putting an end to the heat once and for all, and giving everyone the first true taste of fall.
  13. Despite the widespread 3-5” from the remnants of Gordon just a week ago, the ground is really starting to dry up from the extreme heat. September almost a lock to finish above normal, keep hearing rumblings of a colder than normal October. I say bring it.
  14. 93 here in Champaign. This now gives us seven readings of 90+ for the month of September, with opportunity to add on to that until Friday. Harvest is now in full swing, with hot and dry weather expected until the weekend, the farmers should have over half of the fields done. I’m ready for that first bite of October fall air. EDIT: 94 now.
  15. Dang Champaign tagged 90 today, a bit unexpected. One last summer hoorah? I’m ready for fall.
  16. Right on the bullseye. Only saving grace is that little rain has fallen over the last 10 days.
  17. Was still able to tag 83 today. Officially in fall mode. Got the crock pot going with pulled pork for the kick off of the NFL season:)
  18. International falls dropped to 28 degrees last night, borderline hard freeze on September 6th is just absurd!
  19. Looking at the GFS ensembles they all seem to favor central Illinois for the heaviest rainfall, meanwhile the operational runs continue to favor southern illinois. Either way, a wide spread 2-5” of rainfall is nothing to sneeze at. Going to be an interesting weekend.
  20. CMI just had the highest reading of the year earlier, we tagged 95! Impressive heat for sure. Yeah last September we broke a record from 1895 on September 20th, when we reached 95 degrees.
  21. CMI just tagged 94 for the second day in a row. So far for the month our readings have been 90,92,94,94 impressive heatwave to close out the season.
  22. Ended up tagging 94 yesterday, very warm start to the month for sure. Looks like a lot of rain coming later this week, remains to be seen if the remnants of Gordon wander this way.
  23. 92 at CMI, with a chance to tack on another 90 degree day Monday and Tuesday. Labor Day weekend heatwaves seem to be the norm the past years.
  24. Unbelievable. 89’d again today. We just can’t seem to reach 90 this summer. This is I believe the 11th time we’ve been 89’d.
  25. Walleye fishermen myself, nice catch there man! Lots of good eating, walleye, bluegill, and crappie are my favorite. Nothing better than a huge fish fry with coleslaw, baked beans, and hush puppies.
