  1. Punta Gorda getting absolutely taken to pound town right now. Man Ian is just a monster.
  2. No news or clips coming out of Cape Coral, that’s never a good sign. My aunt is there and I’m increasingly worried for her, haven’t heard from her in over an hour. edit: she just finally texted, said it’s still going gangbusters
  3. Haven’t heard from my aunt in over an hour now.. virtually no news coming out of Cape Coral, looking at radar they are about to get walloped again.
  4. In a group chat with my aunt and family in Cape Coral.. she just texted “Here’s my address for insurance purposes just in case, I’m going to lose everything, this is really really bad”
  5. My aunt is one of them. She’s an ER nurse, she won’t abandon her house and her two dogs. In frequent contact with her right now.
  6. My Aunt who lives just west of Cape Coral is staying put.
  7. My aunt is just West of Cape Coral in Bokeelia/Matlacha.. visited there several times, would be a devastating hit.
  8. I have a friend just N of Tampa in Tarpon Springs, he’s not paying any attention to the storm. Bad call on his part.
  9. Ending September with just an incredible stretch of weather. The last six weeks have been filled with lots of sunshine, seasonal temps, and cool nights.
  10. Slowly but surely descending into my fall mood. August was truly just a gorgeous month filled with sunshine and cool nights. I’m ready for a batch of chili, football and no pumpkin flavored crap.
  11. August has been incredibly boring, September is 7 days away. Summer is gone in a flash.
  12. Nice view in the paign this morning
  13. Can always tell when you’re getting later in the summer, when you can smell the corn in the air. We actually lost power this morning from the early morning storms. It’s august folks, the apple orchard opened up here. Just unbelievable how fast time goes.
  14. It’s so dry here, and any beneficial rains are hard to come by. Not much rain in the next 7 days with another round of heat, will further exacerbate the drought problems here. surprisingly the random pop up showers that drop minuscule rains are greening up the lawns.
  15. Can’t believe next week is August. Good lord Summer ‘22 is flying on by.
  16. Locusts are out. Really a picture perfect July day. 82 full sun and no breeze. Summer is chugging along
  17. My temp gauge just 1 mile south of Willard airport had 100 for a solid hour. Inferno.
  18. Missed out on the rains Friday afternoon/evening, 0.5” in roughly one month at the homestead. It is bone dry.
  19. Moderate drought officially in east central Illinois. If this weekends rain doesn’t materialize, we could be in trouble. Right now forecast has 0.2”. 88 currently, should tag 90. lawns are getting crispy.
  20. Have to wonder if this flash drought will have a feedback loop for July and August. Mother Nature always has the final say, never thought two weeks away we were going to have back to back brutal heatwaves. the pattern sucked for March, April, May.
  21. Weather couldn’t be anymore perfect right now, 80 with 44% humidity. Kicked off Father’s Day weekend with some smash burgers off the blackstone , topped with Vidalia onion, garden tomato, sweet pickles and mustard. Cooked the pops dinner and we shared some IPAs. Happy Father’s Day to all those fathers out there, and especially @Brian D this has to be tough for you.
