  1. I’d say gusts to 55. Trying to remain positive, I guess 1-3” of snow whipped at 45-55mph will be fun to watch.
  2. Gonna reduce my final call for a third time to 1.7”. Brutal lol.
  3. Gonna have to bump my final call down to 2.3” here in the paign. Nothing but a glorified December 2012 the way things stand.
  4. exactly. It’s very rare we get this kind of wind field. I’ll take 4-8” getting whipped by 55-65mph winds. Polar Vortex Blizzard dropped 8” with 45mph winds and it was a disaster. Not sure what Champaign will ultimately receive snowfall wise, it’s looking blizzard like regardless.
  5. The giddiness these storms give never gets old, it always makes me feel like a kid again. Should things materialize like 12z GFS shows, this area could be looking at the biggest blizzard since February 13th, 2007. I sense lots of coffee and emotions over the next 72 hours.
  6. Regardless if my heart gets broken by this beauty, the fact we finally get a blizz 2-3 days before Christmas has me giddy. If we could tap more gulf moisture, this could be historic. I do like my position right now.
  7. If we finally get a cold pattern right before Christmas with bare ground and end the month with another T of snow, I’ll inject bleach into my brain stem.
  8. Mid to upper 40s, wall to wall clouds, throw in some rain. That’s my next 9 days. Not a single day with sunshine. Well on our way to another clunker December. The trend is your friend.
  9. Anything to break up the last 10-12 years of monotonous Decembers we have endured. I would most definitely welcome a front loaded winter, not one that lingers well into April, as has been another common theme.
  10. 61 and sunny on thanksgiving eve, I’ll take it. Normally I prefer more seasonable weather, but we are smoking a ham AND turkey. hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday, me and the pops are drinking IPAs and manning the smoker. The ladies may need to intervene tonight, depending on how good the beer flows. EDIT: I grabbed the rolls and apple butter from the beef house restaurant in Covington, IN single handedly one of the most fire thanksgiving sides.
  11. really incredible man. I imagine the adrenaline rush from an event like this is off the charts. Keep the footage coming.
  12. Yesterday some light snow spit with heavy overcast skies, sat by my folks wood burning stove, eating chili and drinking oatmeal stout. It was so peaceful, I’m a sucker for those kind of days. Bring on the first legitimate snowfall, I’m ready.
  13. 78 in the paign, tied the record from just two short years ago. Man this incoming weather is not going to be pleasant lol.
  14. What an absolutely incredible write up, you are one of my favorite posters to read their analysis. Incredible work, OHweather.
  15. Came home earlier to the neighbors trampoline blown from their backyard into the intersection of our street, poles, cage and all. kcmi weather obs showed a 68mph gust earlier, makes sense. Even seen a few road signs bent from the winds.
  16. Why not? Santa has no snow for reindeer’s in these parts anymore, let them glide through sand.
  17. Hit 74 earlier, the next 7 days look extremely mild, barring a dramatic shift to cooler than normal temperatures, this month is a lock to finish above normal.
  18. Very interested to see what this triple dip La Niña will bring, it’s been discussed several times here about 2000-2001 and the bitter cold and snowy December. Would be a dramatic shift from the weather we are having now and the extended looking mild, should we make a dramatic shift to cold next month. 1975 featured a warm November followed with a warm December, so perhaps we follow that analog? Would be par for the course the last 10 years to have a very mild December.
  19. you really live a peaceful off the grid esque life. I absolutely admire the way of life you all adapt to up there. I couldn’t imagine how peaceful it is reading a book, making a fire in the wood burning stove, eating hearty soup and watching the snow pile up by the feet.
