  1. Unlike many people these days, I tend to defer to expertise. You've got credentials, and in legal speak, your expert opinion is given great weight...
  2. That would be a very nice storm for these parts for this time of year. Anyone remember the early Dec 95 storm? Another one that took people by surprise.
  3. Positive or negative is subjective....normally I like snow but a storm this early could end the excellent striped bass season or cause the skippers to decide to close up shop for the season ( at least one announced it today, due to the impending storm and lack of "enough" customers, the idea that their fares have gotten too high escapes these guys, but I digress ) so I'm not real disappointed if it doesn't come to fruition, as I'd like another shot at the fish. But it really isn't up to us in any case. I'll enjoy some snow if it happens, but won't shed a tear if it doesn't.
  4. In 03? There were two storms in a week; one was a 14 inch all snow, the other a week later was a mixed event. Perhaps I have them confused..
  5. Was an inch or two of slush to ice out here; caused a lot of headaches when it froze.
  6. Yes but based on experience a realistic scenario would probably see areas near me getting a few inches ( 1-3, maybe 4 ) and more interior areas getting a lot more. Wound't be a bad start to things really, around these parts.
  7. Yeah that little sliver of Union Co bordering Middlesex is where I took my walk that day, Rahway River Park. It was 1-3. Nice to walk in but I had no idea it was major storm elsewhere. Busy time of year. And didn't pay as much attention then.
  8. Doesn't this seem a more likely scenario historically? This wouldn't surprise me TBH. Hoping for something better though.
  9. So forgettable here I had to look it up. 1-3 inches and more like 1 through most of northern Middlesex County. I do remember taking a walk in it, just for the mood flakes, in sneakers.
  10. Just once I'd like to see a map that didn't show me having one forecast in my front yard and one in my backyard.
  11. Not used to seeing you so bullish, gets my attention...
  12. True. But strange things can happen these days. Snow in Oct. Snow in Nov. And we seem to never get great patterns these days. A few inches would be nice. Statistically, December snow bodes well for the rest of the winter. Though i wouldn't bet the house on it....
  13. Took a lot of people by surprise, even ol' Henry Marguisity.
  14. 2011, Jan 20 IIRC, but that was a blockbuster pattern in the first half of winter. Got 19 inches over here. seemed small compared to Boxing Day....
  15. 14 inches IIRC....missed AC though. Caught us by surprise. It was the biggest that winter, though we had a lot of smaller events that followed.
  16. It's horsing out right now ( boat talk for heavy winds ) over here in CNJ. Real gale type stuff. BIL wants to fry a turkey outside. Ok, then.
  17. It wasn't that bad out, I went for a walk outside this morning and the winds had backed off a lot from the night before. Most party boats ( they do sail on Thanksgiving ) had canceled due to gale force winds. I would normally walk in the mall on such a cold windy day but it is closed this morning. So I bundled up and it really wasn't that bad. Temps weren't bitter and wind wasn't biting. I was just outside poking around with nothing other than a flannel shirt ( flannel lined pants though ) and it wasn't bad at all. Had it continued like it had been it would have been a different story, but this kinda wind is tolerable right now. I just saw that there was a gust of 50 last night in NJ.
  18. Same to you and yours Anthony. Got some nieces and nephews up from Colombia who have never seen snow ( well, except on mountaintops ) would be nice to see something.
  19. There be fish big enough to swallow ye whole out there, skipper ( well, maybe not whole, but a big thresher shark scared the pants off me two weeks ago ).
  20. They didn't bother to treat out here. We had some flurries around noon, that was all. Yesterday was such a nice day and I was off but blew off a fishing trip. Fishing was excellent, with one boat catching and releasing a hundred striped bass. No real big fish, but that is actually a good sign, to see the smaller ones ( which are still averaging 24-26 in ). I was warned it will get bitter cold and I should try to get in a trip before the sea temps plummet, but I was tired. Early mornings get tough when you get into your 50's; you're awake but your limbs are too sore to move, sort of like the Tin Man....anyway, runoff, yeah, bad for the environment, bad for the bay. But there is less garbage and sewage than there used to be.
  21. I'll wait for December thanks. Still waiting for the seas to calm down....waiting...waiting....thoughts turning to retirement.
