Helene is going to go down as one of the mostly costly non inflation adjusted Hurricane ever IMO. 150-200 billion. it is going to make the home insurance situation in Florida even worse. If you live within 15 miles of the coast in Florida you should probably prepare to self-insure. They are rescuing people off the top of a hospital in NC.
I just spoke with my Steinhatchee friend on the phone...was just text before. She is 1 mile from the ocean and had 7 feet of water. Her house was on 4 foot stilts but not high enough as the water inundated 3 feet of her house, and the home is not salvageable The house has been there since the 1800's and they have never had water in that area per historical records. 7 feet of water 1 mile from the Ocean...incredible. Was probably 12-15 at the coast itself.
She is so kind hearted....I answer and she says 'How are you' despite her being in the middle of an incredible crisis. Not fair.
I think we found some missing items as reported by one of our posters

The interesting thing about the Canadian (until it changes here in about 15-30 min) was the storm had a path to ride at least part way up the Eastern Coast while coming from the north was another vort with the paweather 540 line and air cold enough for wet snow with it. Would not snow here but would not have ruled it out in New England mountains.
The most maligned model on AMWX, the Euro, has an area of interest as well. The disdain for the Euro reached a pinnacle in the tropical thread over the last few days.
Red Sox are wrapping up a successful season in my eyes. Broke the 80-win mark and competed for a playoff spot. I think I picked them to make mid-80's for wins so they could fall a bit short of that unless they win most of their final games.
