Jan 30th-February 1st 2026 Arctic Blast/ULL Snow OBS Thread.
WinterWonderland replied to John1122's topic in Tennessee Valley
Here in Oak Ridge it appears we've got about 2 inches or so and still snowing and 22 degrees. I'll do an official measure later. It's a Winter Wonderland and beautiful! ❄️ -
Snowing beautifully in Oak Ridge right now and sticking on surfaces. We're at 30 degrees.

Novice here . . . when the models show a northern shift like we're seeing, does it sometimes shift southerly again? I'd love to see the models return to earlier yesterday's look but not sure the likelihood of that happening. I've been a long time member on this site and live in Oak Ridge, TN. Thank you to everyone here. I love that it's informative and not mean-spirited.

Carver, you meant February, right?

We have a light dusting so far in Oak Ridge TN, with a steady snow/sleet/rain falling. 35 degrees. We also have biscuits in the oven and sausage gravy on the stove. Smelling good up in here:)

I'm almost 70 years old and have lived in East TN most of my life. The Feb 1996 storm that you mention John, is the most memorable to me as far as the snow and cold. You couldn't see grass or pavement for about 2 weeks here in Oak Ridge. 22 inches was measured at my house and it snowed off and on for a week. It was very cold and and I've never seen snow come down that hard. We were in sledding heaven! The blizzard of 93 pales in comparison as far as Oak Ridge goes, IMO. Though the thundersnow was awesome and the snow was deep, it went away quickly.

I'm in Oak Ridge too and it's really coming down at a good rate and accumulating. I'm thinking we have about 2 inches but not sure. If I weren't watching Gunsmoke right now (and constantly looking out the window at the same time lol) I'd get off my lazy butt and get outside with my ruler. This snow is beautiful!!

This is off topic but I have a quick question. I'm not able to sort my threads so that the most recent replies put this thread at the top. Is that because it's not pinned? I hope I'm making sense. Love this forum and all the great info and input! Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

I can relate! I tried to sleep but kept dreaming I was waking up and it was warm and rainy. In my dream I would go back to bed feeling disappointed. This happened three times and when I finally did get up I was apprehensive about looking outside. But lo and behold, it is a winter wonderland! About an inch and still light snow falling. It's 29 degrees here in Oak Ridge, TN. I'm so looking forward to a day of falling snow. That's a rarity these days! Is there a way to tell where posters live? I check their profile but don't see a location. Folks are posting their current weather conditions and it would be good to know the location they're talking about. Everyone be safe and enjoy the snow! Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk -
