Airmass coming in for next weekend and early the following week looks like the first legit BN pattern in awhile. 50s for highs and frost/freeze potential for outer burbs.
Grass weenies…the last 2 weeks were pretty ideal for grass germination. I put some seed down before but as usual a lot didn’t take and I still have lots of weird bare spots. Did I miss the window now with real October returning Sunday? Or could I still seed and get it to start now?
This pattern is useless for snow for us in early-mid November. Maybe pity mood flakes. Honestly hope it doesn’t stick like that long so a better chance it can recycle by mid December.
Decent number of leaves coming down this morning with the breeze while I was out on my birdwatching walk. This warm/muggy interlude is probably going to sink our chances of a really great foliage season. Still could be respectable though assuming the colors start popping when we get some cooler nights again starting next weekend.
Doesn't this show more prevalent MJO phases 3-5 in Nina with -QBO (like we have now)? Those are pretty crappy phases for us...We want 8-1-2 in winter. Phase 3 can be good in March IIRC.
I saw a chart earlier today on Twitter, but can’t find it now on my phone, showing that most of the Top 10 warmest October’s in the CONUS were during Ninas.
