  1. I’ve never seen hail, maybe today I will.
  2. Seasonal lag is a PITA. Can you imagine how much better off we’d be if Spring behaved more like Fall? Fall weather (in reverse) + the stronger sunshine would be a dramatic improvement over this confused tepid mess of a season. Currently 40 degrees (and dropping) in the middle of the day, today’s max sun angle is over 60 degrees, elevation is close to sea level. Ridiculous.
  3. Got down to 30 here, first time below freezing since March 8th. It was very brief, thankfully, but still rather annoying.
  4. Warning was definitely warranted, these conditions are dangerous. Legit feels like a tropical storm outside.
  5. Yeah, and I hope damage is minimal, there’s been a nonstop barrage of sirens ongoing here for the past 10 minutes.
  6. Winds aren’t letting up anymore like they were earlier, it’s more constant, feeling a bit Sandy-ish, obviously not the height of Sandy which was on another level, but how it felt in the hours prior.
  7. This is feeling like the beginning of a fairly significant wind event. I’m feeling the ground vibrate with some of these gusts.
  8. Leaf out slowed a bit but I see quite a few trees with small leaves and buds popping open on others and we’re still weeks ahead of schedule. No freeze here since Mar 16, and even that wasn’t a real freeze, low was 32. Have to go all the way back to Mar 8 for anything sub freezing.
  9. Lol it really hasn't snowed in over 2 months, and it’s only March. *knock on wood*
  10. Have we ever seen a major hurricane stay in one spot for as long as this one has? This is basically Dorian right now:
  11. My only ice storm memory is of the Jan 1999 ice storm in the DC area, it was serious, the landscape looked very alien, all trees and power lines sagged in ways I’d never seen (and still haven't seen again), I recall one power line encased in thick ice dangling right in front of the window just a few feet away. This event was also my earliest weather memory.
  12. I hit 105 in Queens, highest temperature I’ve ever experienced. Newark (and maybe LGA) is definitely going to hit 110 one of these days. Old Bridge, NJ hit 110 back in 1936.
  13. I felt it, I thought I was off balance initially but I noticed clothes hangers swaying back and forth. Swaying not nearly as noticeable as the 2011 quake, that was enough to wake me up out of my sleep.
  14. The sheer amount of green leaves left is astonishing. The landscape is still 50%+ green in many spots and we’re in the second half of November.
  15. I super-hate early sunsets, we’re too far east in this time zone. It’d be nice if we could keep Eastern Daylight Time year round, but the U.S. government doesn’t allow year round DST, only opting out of DST. Making the switch to Atlantic Standard Time year round would solve that problem, multiple New England states have recently proposed switching.
  16. It feels like I haven’t looked at a radar since Maria made landfall in PR. I couldn’t even remember where the RadarScope app was located on my phone’s home screen.
  17. I’m legitimately cold. It’d be nice if the sun came out.
  18. So weird seeing people riding jet skis in October.
  19. The universe is certainly making up for that lackluster spring and summer. I’m not mad at all.
  20. Am I the only one that hit 90 yesterday before everything went downhill? I noticed some wunderground stations did as well, however it's still strange.
