  1. Winds aren’t letting up anymore like they were earlier, it’s more constant, feeling a bit Sandy-ish, obviously not the height of Sandy which was on another level, but how it felt in the hours prior.
  2. This is feeling like the beginning of a fairly significant wind event. I’m feeling the ground vibrate with some of these gusts.
  3. Leaf out slowed a bit but I see quite a few trees with small leaves and buds popping open on others and we’re still weeks ahead of schedule. No freeze here since Mar 16, and even that wasn’t a real freeze, low was 32. Have to go all the way back to Mar 8 for anything sub freezing.
  4. Lol it really hasn't snowed in over 2 months, and it’s only March. *knock on wood*
  5. Staten Island & Central Jersey have the best spring climo in the area. Best area climate in general. Temp here was still in the low/mid 50’s at about 3:30pm. Holding at 69 here now, hasn’t budged in about 15 minutes following a rapid rise.
  6. 65 and rising now, new high for the day. I repeat, where was this earlier?
  7. Only 63 here today, didn’t clear out until almost 4:00, nice finish but absolute garbage for most of the day. And it’s still 60 right now, where was this energy earlier??? And there’s 70’s just a couple of miles to my west/northwest, wtf.
  8. 71 now here, finally! And it feels like it’s been quite a long time since we’ve had dry(-ish) heat, with humidity it’s like we always fall just shy of 100, though the heat index sometimes goes way beyond 100.
  9. Nope, my highest so far is 68, three times...today, Monday, and January 12th. Have you hit 70?
  10. 67 here, it’d be nice to squeeze out a 70. 0.70” event total.
  11. I saw a Weeping Willow that was already leafing out this morning, they’re always among the first to do so.
  12. Matched January 12th for the warmest temp of the year so far (68) here. Currently 67.
  13. 0.00” today, radar returns this afternoon displayed rain in every directions, unable to penetrate this part of Suffolk, with the humidity here randomly plummeting to around 50% for a few hours.
  14. These in particular were retired by 2003, they no longer do this, however it’s actually good for marine life, they were placed off the coast from NJ to GA in areas mostly devoid of any natural reefs.
  15. 54 here, topped out at 59 before it started cooling off. Highest temp of the month.
  16. Agreed. We’re long overdue for a torchy March.
  17. “Mid-Atlantic” originally meant the middle of the entire East Coast (including Canada), it only included NY, NJ, PA, and DE, this is still the case under some definitions. Basically not New England, but not the South either. MD, DC, and VA were originally part of the South (politically), but are now generally regarded as part of the Mid-Atlantic, for obvious reasons.
  18. Temp actually rising now, currently at 30 which is the high for the day so far. Might make it above freezing today after all.
  19. Low of 14 here, high only at 29 so far, might unseat Dec 19th (27°F/17°F) as the coldest day of the winter.
  20. Some of us have never experienced subzero temperatures. JFK hasn’t since 1985. 17 here, officially the coldest night of the winter (so far).
  21. I’m really curious to know the amount of hours we’ve spent below freezing (and hard freezing or 28°F) vs normal. I’ve had a few potted plants sitting outdoors all winter, half of them wouldn't survive our normal winters, especially in pots which expose the plant roots (the most cold sensitive part of a plant) to the ambient air temperatures. The Cilantro I planted in like Sept/Oct is still going.
