Neat trivia.... largest snowflake ever recorded is 15" in width, observed in Fort Keough, MT, in 1887. I want those. I bet those were some incredible ratios!
It seems from experience that the mix line always pushes faster and further north than modeled / forecasted. I cannot recall one event where we got less mix than forecasted.
I expect the sleet line to overperform. If we get 8" before the flip I'll be happy, so long as @Aldie 22 isn't reporting ripping fatties while I'm pinged to-death.
Today marks a full 10 years since the last 6" storm in Stephens City. An entire decade has passed without a significant snow storm. Truly unbelievable. And awful.
I went to Martins at 430 this afternoon. On a Wednesday it shouldn't have been busy; it was very busy. Long lines at every register. Just ridiculous; any storm is 72 hours from starting.
