  1. It's tough for verification purposes. For example, say looking at crap and go with a SE wind or whatever...the daily climate reports just give highest wind direction which I'm not entirely sure I 100% understand...is it reporting the highest in degrees the wind happened to be that day? Let's say the wind for the most part was 165 on average at about 8 mph...but some flock of birds flew over and the wind shifted to 242 and increased to 12 mph...only the 242 would be listed. STUPID
  2. I wish every NWS office would also include resultant wind direction in their daily climate reports. It sucks it just includes highest wind direction.
  3. That is something I am quite concerned about
  4. what really defines a pattern...and to be more specific hot and humid? BDL is just a bizarre place...or heck perhaps even any major airport just b/c the influences of the environment aren't "natural"...but does that make the readings irrelevant?...no. Of course someone who lives in a major city is going to have a differing opinion of the weather than someone living in the hills or a forested location. But if its 96/72 at BDL but only 86/66 at some forested or heavily "veggie" environment the person at BDL is going to say hot/humid while the other is going to differ...so which is correct? IMO, the answer comes down to climo of each environment. In retrospect the climo at these locations shouldn't differ by all that much...but let's say BDL is running +6...well in a perfect world that other location should also be running near +6. what I'm trying to get at is you can't define these things by the reading of the thermometer but by the anomaly of the event. Based on the below map...whether you live deep inside the forest or are tanning on the tarmac since the start of the month its been toasty based on the anomaly of the pattern
  5. Perhaps the main circulation being a bit too close to land could prevent more in the way of strengthening?
  6. There is some really nice convection with cooling tops but yeah quite displaced. We'll see what happens over the next 24-36 hours.
  7. I'll tell you...the Gulf of Mexico makes me super nervous. No wind shear, water temps about as hot as the breath coming out of Kevin's mouth...who's to say this can't undergo RI and blossom into a like a category 2?
  8. Anyways Friday looks real messy for us...should again see widespread downpours and t'storms with flash flooding #1 threat. Could see some slow movers too...especially anything that fires well ahead of the front.
  9. When I saw this map earlier I did not get a very good feeling.
  10. yeah I was actually about to check river levels but I'm pretty certain they are quite high.
  11. In terms of rain/flooding potential this could be ugly for LA. Pretty strong clustering with a track going right into LA.
  12. I'm a bit concerned down that way. Large area of high pressure builds across the central Plains into the OV region and you have the high off the SE coast and stalled boundary across the southeast.
  13. Hope you got an A ahhhh that makes sense. When I had to do newspaper forecasts at school for the class we were told it was some error with the t'storm algorithm
  14. Do you know why the MOS for PANC seems to sometimes love spitting out high t'storm probs and always has 99 for severe? Always wondered that...it's kind of funny.
  15. Jesus. Well this sounding certainly supports that. Looks like the highest PWAT values Friday happen very early in the AM here.
  16. Could be fairly active across E SNE Friday afternoon. Lots of torrential downpours with thunder/lightning. Maybe a few wet microbursts. Flash flooding threat definitely there
  17. Sure but it doesn't have to feel like the Arctic either.
  18. From 2009-2013 before I had A/C my room in the summer would be 95-99. Sure it sucked to sleep but that is true summer. That's why I can tolerate the heat more than most. IMO, subjecting your body to crazy temperature swings and frequently is not good for the immune system. Going from outside to A/C then back to outside and so forth...not good. It drives me nuts when you go inside places and the A/C is cranking to make it feel like a fridge.
  19. Days like this are actually kinda boring. It's perfect for the first half of the day then the second half should be developing t'storms.
  20. I’m thinking of buying a dash cam. Anyone knowledgeable with that sort of stuff? What would be good?
