  1. No doubt. That year was worse and so was 15/16. 05/06 was worse too. This one has been below average in some respects but I’ve had snow in my yard since November 12, though it got down to patches at least once. It hasn’t been able build deep pack or sustain cold temps so some winter activities have been hampered.
  2. I’d trade that for the 10” of cement/crust/fluff I cleared Saturday. The snowblower would ride up on the crust, blow the fluff for a while and the break trough and just spin, then I had to pull the thing backwards and go forward again. Feels like went over the entire driveway two or three times.
  3. I remember many, many -30s in Canaan, Island Pond and other NEK spots in the 70’s & 80’s. -32 at IP this morning.
  4. Yikes. I just saw a post on a sled FB site saying the same thing happened to them on Rt. 16 in Ossipee, NH. It’s the law here in VT. Glad you’re ok.
  5. It has been a spectacular day. You can really tell how snow starved we had been. I don’t know the last time I saw so many people on snowmobile trails. Not just speeders either, skiers, snowshoers and people just out for a walk.
  6. Add to the fact that road crews leave some accumulation on the roads to soak up sleet and rain, when it gets real cold afterwards that stuff gets welded to the road. It’s like driving on slippery corduroy.
  7. Agree. Didn’t he have the most famous melt ever that was then followed by the huge 100” in 30 days stretch?
  8. We live in a beautiful place.
  9. Nice pics below. I live in Barre and work in Montpelier at the Attorney General’s office. Montpelier is a neat town. A couple of good restaurants. Pretty much shuts down after 5:00 and on weekends when all of us state employees go home.
  10. Beautiful night for a snowmobile ride. The moon is gorgeous. Wish my picture did it justice.
  11. Capital Plaza? I work across the street.
  12. Some of the hardest snowblowing I’ve done in a long time. Ended up with 9” or so from both parts. The thick crust in the middle was a bitch. The snowblower would ride on the crust and then break through so I’d have to back up and go through again. Pretty out and wintry looking. 10F
  13. What about Black Cat Island? Just to infuriate Eek.
  14. Yeah, this snow has some real heft to it. It makes the snowbanks look like they are from a bigger storm. I think somewhere between 6”-10” here from both rounds. Probably going to regret leaving the clearing until tomorrow.
  15. I can’t believe your boss made you work until 5:30. What a slave driver!
  16. Watch out for drifting and white outs on your way up. The high elevation on I-89 between exits 3 and 7 can get particularly bad.
  17. The great view I have out my living room window just allowed me to witness the decapitation of my mailbox by the plow. Grrrrrr
  18. Hopefully you’re here already Fozz. The roads are not good.
  19. Wind picked up noticeably in the last hour or so. Big flakes have been pummeled by the wind and are much smaller. I have big picture window in my living room but it seems like storms either happen at when it’s dark or I’m not home. It’s nice being able to sit on the couch and watch the wind and snow.
  20. >100%<125% tolerable >125%<150% managable >150%<175% meh >175%<200% ok >200% good
  21. I live in a town called Graniteville and believe me, it's called that fr a reason. grass doesn't grow everywhere around my house
  22. It was great. Thin and icy in spots but pretty good considering the amount of snow we've had.
  23. Hope he didn't slide off the driveway and tear up your lawn.
  24. That's the theory most road crews seem to use as well.
