Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s in central VT -20’s were pretty common and -30 not rare in the colder spots. Canaan and Island Pond regularly reported -30 or more. I can remember Canaan being the coldest reading in the lower 48 numerous times.
I noted in the main obs thread that it was cold enough today for the snow to squeak. Like you said, all the snow last year was paste, we haven’t “heard” the snow in a while.
Those radar shots don’t really pick up the light snow that was in the air on and off most of the day here. Of course, radar can struggle on this side of the spine.
Pretty wintry. Snowed most of the day and has been breezy. My high was 19.7° just after midnight, it’s been dropping ever since. 6° now. It’s cold enough for the snow to squeak. That’s been rare the last few years.
