  1. Radars in central PA looking fairly impressive at this time with the squall line now passing to the east of the Harrisburg area. Ground obs are indicating that the strongest winds are remaining aloft however. Wind gusts in that area have maxed out in the 30 to 40 mph range so far.
  2. 12z NAM is continuing to show the further north track for the Sunday event. Looking like a washout for many if it verifies.
  3. Strongest winds I could find recently along the south shore were 50 mph at Shinnecock inlet. Winds appear to have lessened at places further west along the shore.
  4. Still seeing wind gusts of 50 - 60 mph along the barrier beaches of the south shore.
  5. I am amazed that I have been able to get current reports from Fire Island tonight. In any case the models did project these winds along the shore with this event.
  6. Update- wind gust to 66 mph at Ocean Beach in the last 10 minutes. Smith Point Bridge 59 mph
  7. Update on the strong winds along the south shore Point of Woods 51 mph Cherry Grove 56 mph Ocean Beach 61 mph
  8. Wind gust to 33 mph in the past 15 minutes from the WNW. Temp down to 53. Storm total up to 2.64”
  9. Winds had been relatively light here during the past hour however they have just started to really increase from the west and NW. Just had a gust to 24 mph from the west.
  10. Strong winds continue along the south shore. 42 mph recently at both Sayville and Babylon along the water.
  11. Event total now up to 2.36” and still raining here in Bethlehem. Getting road closures in my area due to flooding. Model projections of 2 - 4” across northern NJ, eastern NY, and New England look good to me.
  12. Many reports of wind gusts over 40 mph on the south shore barrier beaches now. 41 mph at Fire Island light and 52 mph at Ocean Beach.
  13. I thought the same as you two hours ago. Now I am almost at 2”. This event is delivering.
  14. I have picked up 0.42” of an inch in the past 15 minutes to bring my event total up to 1.82”.
  15. 41 mph at Ocean Beach on Fire Island in the last 10 minutes.
  16. 0.77” on the day so far. It looks like we will be good for about an inch out here with this event.
  17. Light to moderate rain here. 0.36” so far with the event.
  18. Did they decide where he was going to do his live shots from?
  19. There has been a lot of talk about the hype regarding this storm. One of the things that I like to track is when it actually dawns on the populace down in S Florida that this threat is for real. I measure that by looking at the traffic apps showing highway speed conditions. In other storms I have seen those interstates backed up for hundreds of miles as people flee the storm. So far I have not seen any sign of the expected mass exodus on the highways down there. My thinking is that the West Palm Beach area is at the greatest risk of a direct hit early next week. If you or your friends or family are even considering leaving the area ahead of the storm I would not wait too much longer. My two cents anyways.
  20. I would go with 2/78 and 1/16. 2/78 was especially dramatic with high winds and low near zero visibility’s for hours on end along with 30” of snow. 1/16 also brought 30” of snow with very high rates. As dramatic as Boxing Day was its most significant impacts were felt in eastern NJ and places to the north and east of there in the region. We only had a couple of inches from that one here.
