  1. lol I was thinking the same thing. But maybe he’s right, if he doesn’t eat and only survives on only two McDonalds burgers per day and that’s it, he may not be around that long.
  2. Looking for leaves... pure stick season from mountain to here in town. Looks like Thanksgiving did growing up in ALB. I mean the town has already cleaned up the leaves on the Rec Path, all buttoned up for the season. Time for snow.
  3. What? lol. No one cliff dives in April if it doesn’t snow. By April we are trying to remind folks that it isn’t time to install. But honestly man, it comes off like you’re trying a little too hard this morning to get some folks riled up.
  4. Wasn’t there a storm that dropped a swath of 12-20” through the heart of SNE...like N.CT to just south of Boston in either February or March? I just remember Coastalwx telling me congrats a few days before he got 17-18” or something like that .
  5. Yeah it feels like “ratter” these days gets thrown around at times for any winter that isn’t above normal snow. There’s also the usual pre-season nervousness that comes out time to time. Hard to forecast a ratter in a climate where two good snowstorms can get BOS well on it’s way to average regardless of the rest of the winter.
  6. That’s the dream right there. It’s either 60s or 70s, or mid-winter. Nothing in between. Highs in 70s and teens, all in a 5 day stretch.
  7. Yeah looking at last year is nuts. Absolutely insane cold for November. A whole bunch of single digit mins and even below zero. Lots of highs in the 20s.
  8. Last year was frigid in November. Had a morning of -10F...not bad for before Thanksgiving. Also on Nov 22nd last year MVL ASOS had a maximum temperature of 11F with a minimum temp of 2F. High temp of 11F before Thanksgiving is almost more impressive than -10F morning. 5 days last November had departures of -20 or lower.
  9. We’ve had some good November cold shots before, but not like that. But a few years ago I remember being below 0F on a November morning.
  10. Last November was below normal temps, above normal snow.... and the winter followed with that same designation. Hey it worked at least one year.
  11. 2002-2003 winter in Albany, NY... glad to experience that one before heading north. 100+ inches of snow and two 18"+ events and another couple 12"+ events. For that Hudson Valley climate location, it was a fun final winter living there.
  12. 62F off the low of 34F. Light frost to just an amazing day outside. Need more of this. Reminds me of a month ago and weeks of low dew 60-70F.
  13. WxBell also seems to have added the 6z/18z ECMWF data that it didn’t have last winter.
  14. Honestly, the best years are almost when it’s mild and nice through late November, then get a 1-2 foot storm on December 5th and winter is off and running.
  15. It's coming, don't you worry. I can't believe how perfect last autumn was, solidly above normal then straight to winter in about a week. The in between time was minimized in a way that I likely won't see again for a while, ha. By far the best way to run a fall is to be mild and comfortable, and then go straight to snow.... not have 4 rotting weeks of highs in the 43-53F range with lows in the upper 20s to mid 30s.
  16. October has been pretty much dead on normal temperatures up here. Average temps right now are 54/33... which is smack in the middle of the transition from nice COC and winter. It's probably some of the worse time of year for average temperatures and outdoor activities, ha. Average means scraping frost off the windshield and then getting marginally warm enough into the lower 50s before the early sunset and darkness lol.
  17. Reading these posts it seems like you guys are where we were in like late September.... it's a beautiful time of year when you hit that sweet spot of sunny days meaning highs in the 60s. I remember that euphoria of just perfection when its sunny and 66F. Now we are getting into that ugly time of year when it's a lot of 45-55F type high temp days. At least the picnic tables can bridge the gap and provide some wintry weather from time to time now.
  18. You have to start looking now to find leaves on trees.
  19. Last year on this date it looks like we started a 4-day stretch with 2 snow events and MVL never exceeded 40F during those four days. Two weeks from now was about when the permanent winter snowpack started in my yard, melting in April. Right now we were about to launch straight into winter. It feels a long ways off right now, ha.
  20. Graupel season has begun. This tiny little Cell here at the mountain was pounding ice balls for a bit, ha. Looked like graupel over hail.
  21. Nice! I’m just under 5” at home for the month.
  22. That’s crazy if you’ve only had around 2” this month! Just north of you there are 60+ CoCoRAHS stations in VT with >4.0” this month and 14 stations with >6.0”. Its been a wet month overall in VT.
  23. Just saw the dew points on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.... anyone re-installing in SE New England? Nice little 8-hour shot of humidity for some. Good time to save on heating bills though.
