  1. Ha hopefully not a mess. 0.52” in the stratus from that. We’ve definitely turned wetter lately. I think that’s ~6.5” for July now.
  2. Great wind on the front side… sub-severe though. I’d estimate 40-45mph gusts. Powers out in some parts of town but we still have it. Seemed the type of wind that drops white pines, ha.
  3. Lots of thunder now. Looks good hitting the Champlain Valley.
  4. It is crazy how bad the vis is with sunshine. MVL has been 3-5sm all day and here at the mountain you can basically see the neighboring hill but nothing beyond that. Can’t see anywhere close to across the valley.
  5. Ha. Spaceman Spiff from Calvin and Hobbes.
  6. Raining here right now. We tried to avoid the SNE shitshow of rain for as long as possible but it seems it has now reached us, ha.
  7. Days like today where maxes are -10 to -15 but minimums are high, often leads to a cold narrative if it were winter. When people are awake, out and about, it’s colder than normal. In the winter no one cares if the nights are warmer than normal. 23F instead of 13F, big deal if the high is 30F. In the summer the minimum temperatures seem to be used more by some as evidence of a “warm month” as opposed to the highs. It’s 62/62 here with 0.5sm fog. Drainages fog out quick in these setups.
  8. That was close… a grand slam there by Vladdy Jr makes that game interesting again.
  9. Ha for sure… you aren’t living if you haven’t lied to an employer at some point in your life for extra time off on a trip. I remember in my 20s spending an extra couple days with a girlfriend alone on her father’s boat sitting in a harbor in Newport (or Jamestown RI) because of a “car issue” and the mechanic said it’d be a “day or two to get the part.”
  10. Yeah, need wins. Almost scary starting with an 8-0 lead. As a pitcher your mentality has to change or relax, can see it being hard to focus in a state of bewilderment. The Jay's lineup can score quickly too.
  11. Red Sox... 3 home runs (including a Grand Slam) in the 1st inning so far. 8-0 top of the 1st inning. And still going. Feels good after that Yankee series.
  12. Sounds like you need to fake a positive test to stay there longer. Just call the boss and say yeah, they tested me but I'm going to need to chill here on the beach for another 10 days. You'd almost think your boss would want proof of a positive test .
  13. Yeah to each their own for sure. It was just interesting.
  14. Yeah I could see a smaller isolated countries being more into it. I’m not even sure if it’s on the airline or the customs officers to check. My wife asked CBP officer at Logan and he said they don’t check tests and made it sound like it wasn’t his job. Maybe it’s on the airline but Delta and Lufthansa weren’t interested. Produced it at counter and check in person said I don’t need that. I’ll be curious to hear how yours is.
  15. Yeah it was just crazy that not a single person cared or asked for testing results despite so many signs, emails, gov’t websites saying you will not be admitted to the given countries without them etc. I guess they get the point across and the governments treat it like an honor system but the traveler certainly doesn’t get that opinion/vibe until they’ve already done the test and are traveling.
  16. I try to only talk about what I know, but over a decade in tourism and hospitality, you’ll see the worst of people from time to time. And haven’t seen any more or less lately than any other random distribution. If anything people seem a bit more forgiving like “we are just happy we can do this again” but that period is wearing off. Anytime someone is spending big money for a vacation though, tensions can run high. You see more than enough families that almost seem more stressed on vacation because every minute was over-planned… or if they are less stressed I can’t imagine day to day life. Airline employees have to have the worst of it. There’s not enough money in the world to stand at an airline counter and be a punching bag of over tired travelers.
  17. Nothing like -2.4 and 15” of rain as a great summer month .
  18. Come hang out at a ski resort during Christmas week, lol. Employees have been spit on, hit, get absolutely railed on verbally, etc. We even have a radio code 10-77 for it. Call a 10-77 and you’ll get every manager heading your way and the PD know that code too so they are coming. Dad had 5 kids to get ready to ski in the morning, 3 of them didn’t want to go, Dad paid big money, kids crying, forgot one kids ski boots at home once he arrives, Mom is pissed off yelling at him for not dropping them off… Dad gets inside Lodge and finds one more minor issue and he absolutely loses his goddamn mind at some $12/hr front-line employee… the police end up coming. Or Dad spent 5 hours in a suburban with the kids annoying him, he’s tired, gets to hotel to check in and room isn’t ready despite it being check-in time. Boom go the fireworks. Happens a LOT. Dad often apologizes saying the kids drive him insane all morning and all he wanted to do was go skiing. And it’s usually Dad, the Karen moniker applies to males too.
  19. My wife flew internationally last month and both European Union and the US required negative tests 72 hours prior to flying. It was a pain in the ass and she did it. Not once on either leg did anyone (not a single person) ask her about COVID testing. Not airline, not CBP officers. No customs agents in either direction. She and other travelers were baffled as as they made such a big point about it online and in Gov’t correspondence. It obviously wasn’t needed. No one cared at all. Even cost like $150 in Europe/Germany to get tested, not a peep from any country or airline she went through. Lufthansa certainly didn’t care. But a family of 6 would’ve been $900 in tests!
  20. What a punt of a day. It just keeps raining. This swath has been a permanent feature pretty much all day. Only needed in winter. No need in summer.
  21. The irony is then when someone says it’s not humid out and it’s enjoyable, they come back with “what do you mean? It’s miserably humid. Dew is 70F at my station. Sweating my whole run.” Like last week in CT… I hate humidity and was like “It’s comfortable out this evening” and the response was “Are you drunk it’s miserable, you should hate it!”
  22. Yeah wasn’t supposed to rain today but it’s been steady this morning on NE flow.
  23. THIS IS A PATH LENGTH OF 1.9 MILES. THE APPROXIMATE PATH WIDTH WAS 75 YARDS. DAMAGE PHOTOS LED TO ESTIMATES OF MAXIUMUM WIND SPEEDS OF 75 TO 80 MPH, WHICH PUTS THIS ON THE MID TO UPPER END OF THE EF0 CATEGORY OF THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE. THE TIME, BASED ON RADAR, FIRE DEPARTMENT LOGS, AND AN EYEWITNESS ACCOUNT, WAS FROM 611 PM TO 618 PM EDT. THIS STORM WAS LOW-TOPPED AND DID NOT POSSESS ANY LIGHTNING...ONLY HEAVY RAIN. HOWEVER, ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS...HIGH HUMIDITY AND JUST ENOUGH WIND SHEAR ALOFT...WERE STRONG ENOUGH TO CAUSE THIS ISOLATED SPIN-UP. I understand the physics and fluid motion the atmosphere possesses in many different situation (I’m a visual learner), but I still don’t visualize humidity and spinners. Is it just warm moist air rises at a lesser excuse possible than anything cooler/drier? Those thermals are more likely to form a TOR?
