  1. Normally you can see multiple mountain ridges and hills past this all the way to Jay Peak. Even the haziest dewiest summer days have several more hills behind here. Visibility at the ASOS seemed about right, 4 miles or so.
  2. Now that looks like summer dude. The smoke adds some summer evening ambiance ha.
  3. A chilly first week of August on guidance. That 12z GFS was just below normal 2-M and 850mb for like 7 days straight starting Saturday or even just later this week.
  4. You must be in heaven, looks like some 70F dews at the ASOS’ this morning down there. My folks golfing this morning said it felt like playing in a swamp.
  5. Ahh good to know! Thanks man. I thought it might be because BTV is a manned airport and they could distinguish the two but isn't there a code for human intervention in the METAR? I will say it is like orange outside right now. The lighting is bizarre. It's like a reddish glow. Last week the smoke seemed more blue... like a blueish tint. Might just be some other element causing it.
  6. Low vis here of only a few miles. MVL says mist, while BTV says haze. Probably a combination of both.
  7. When they agreed to allow skateboarding into the Olympics, was there a stipulation that you must dress like you are playing tennis at the country club in order to participate? Or the tennis team had extra uniforms?
  8. Badminton has been my sport so far. That shit is intense. Japan and Canada this morning, the rally’s went on forever until someone slammed it home.
  9. Vermont purple haze has been clouding the sky since the ‘70s.
  10. When you clicked on “penis museum,” a whole new world opened up on Google didn’t it?
  11. Yeah it seems heavily Red Sox. I can get WEEI broadcasts on 3 stations here but I don't think I've heard a Yankee broadcast while scrolling through looking for a game. They become more plentiful as you drive towards Albany, ha.
  12. They are not the problem. You can't blame them because you are worried the government will overreact. Blame the overreacting government. I don't have strong feelings on a lot of issues, but this one is up there to me. No matter how safe it is, or what the reasoning is, you cannot make someone do something to their body to make your life easier or to make you feel better. The most basic human freedom is control over your body.
  13. Two packs a day and nips for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I’m with you. Folks can wise up with any number of health things if they want to.
  14. Yeah didn’t talk about it with him. Don’t swim up to someone and say “hey man, haven’t seen you in a while, camp looks nice, you get vaxxed?” Only know my immediate family, which is what I said.
  15. It definitely feels like a campaign to get more people vaxxed… and certainly the wrong way to go about it. Like some back room meeting “we don’t see needing masks again, but maybe if we threaten to impose them again more people will sign up for the vax.” I’m very much inline with the folks here that are saying it’s been over, you can either get vaccinated or you can chose not to. You’re choice. Time to move on. Stop worrying about what other people do. They will not impact your health.
  16. Ask him what? lol. I don’t know his feelings on it. I’m sure his mother and father in law know my parents’ thoughts and are on similar page. They ask my parents medical advice if someone gets hurt and likewise ask Graham if a car is acting up.
  17. Definitely 100% do not support the vax pressuring. I’m very true to your body your choice. No one should ever force another human to do, ingest, take something they don’t want to. Its medical not political though for most doctors, that’s good enough for me from a why to get it. Not because I have certain political beliefs.
  18. Cool thanks. Appreciate the viewpoint. I never looked at getting the vaccine as supporting one way of government over the other. Like this weekend, hanging out with immediate family who are solely in the medical field (I’m the black sheep)… retired Emergency Physician, 2 Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacist. In my family of five I’m the lone one out. But their view of it is almost identical to @WhitinsvilleWX and other doctors/medical field folks on here. They view it as completely separate from politics. Virus, vaccine, why wouldn’t people get it? Maybe it’s the medical field having that trust in medicine and they do trust it because they take oaths to give care. People get sick, here’s how we fix it. But even medical field folks who may vote different party lines or have vastly different political views, seem to have a largely similar view on the vaccine overall. Of course some will differ but by and large it’s interesting that they seem to separate politics and fall back on their medical knowledge.
  19. Forky comes off as a psychopath at worst and at best someone with poor character. Openly mocks a lot of people, has had obese middle age folks as avatars for a long time. Crosses the line pretty much every time he drops by the banter thread. Question for you Phin… I’d just call him a psychopath, but you added the bolded. What does the government have to do with his ridiculous shitty lack of compassion? Is that what the vaccine really is about? Appeasing the government? By being pro-vaccine folks are seen as being pro-heavy handed government? Like It’s not a medical thing but more about not stroking the big dick of the gov’t? Genuinely curious about the added bolded words in terms of fostering discussion. Forky’s an ass.
  20. My family from Tolland, Ellington, Somers, Woodstock etc are why I’m a Sox fan. They are diehards, have season tickets, and since that’s where I spent my summers as a kid… Sox fan despite living near Albany the rest of the season. Albany is mostly Yanks and Mets.
  21. To your point @WhitinsvilleWX …
  22. Yeah and pitching has been better than expected. They had 5 all-stars the most of any team, and they’ve had times when guys like Kiki Hernandez or Hunter Renfroe have been as hot as anyone in the game. Kiki right now is on fire, most extra-base hits of anyone in July I think I read? Dude is torching the ball, and had another huge double tonight in a big spot. Last night he had a little league home run (triple and error). But I agree, I think Cora is a manager they all just love to play for. He’s a players manager. They relate to him and trust him.
  23. Yeah nobody thought it. We’ve discussed it a lot in the sports thread. I figured they might get to .500 if lucky. Pre-season simulation:
