  1. Awesome. I felt your pain after mine last summer, so I know how much relief that can be. Can bring a grown man to their knees crying .
  2. How's the toenail? Ha, back to some real banter thread issues.
  3. Got some late day sun that pumped temps up into the mid-60s. Was actually a pretty nice evening in the mountains.
  4. Culture of violence… this one from last week was just like WTF…. ”A Florida man took his son on paintball ‘drive by,’ police said. The boy, 10, ended up shot with a real gun. It was the 10-year-old’s idea, police later said: He’d asked his dad if he would take him on a “drive by shooting” with his paintball gun, and Williams, 26, allegedly said yes. But as the paintballs peppered the crowd, at least one of the victims thought the gunshots were real. So the man pulled out his own gun and fired a single bullet at the van — wounding the young boy. After being struck with the bullet, police said, the 10-year-old fell out of the van and was run over as the vehicle continued to move. Williams then scooped the boy back into the van and drove home, where the boy’s mother called 911, according to a police report. According to police, Williams’s son approached him over the weekend and asked if his father would take him to do a drive-by shooting with a paintball gun in Opa-locka.“
  5. Makes sense, stuff you may not see on a daily basis living there but it’s festering around the edges. My aunt still talks about getting mugged three different times in the early 1990s, to the point where she moved out to Long Island in like 1995… maybe on the tail end of that other era you mentioned.
  6. My sister and fiancé say the same. But they also sort of say it’s a huge number of people living closely and there’s always been some crime, hard to separate whats normal and what’s not in a place of that scale. They also love living there so that can play into not seeing negatives sometimes. We do have a resident NYPD officer here that might offer more insight that just us anecdotally lol.
  7. Yeah that’s the money zone IMO. 78-82F. Enjoy.
  8. Well we swung a bit too far in the other direction now... from excessive heat/humidity all the way back to hoodie weather with doors/windows locked up tight to prevent the heat from coming on. Still sitting mid-upper 50s and not budging. Looks like many are in the same boat north of RT 2 in Mass.
  9. Yeah this has been a crazy game. What in the world was that? Ha.
  10. Wildest inning of the season for the Sox… The Red Sox sixth inning featured: 10 batters, 5 runs, 4 unearned runs, 3 walks, 2 doubles, 1 hit by pitch, 2 dropped pop flys, 1 infield fly in the outfield, 1 fan on the field.
  11. Awesome dude. That’s on my bucket list. People I know who’ve gone say the Black Hills geography was more impressive than they imagined.
  12. People want all the amenities and services that come with urban high density… with the “country feel” of low density. How close can I get to Boston but still feel like I live in God’s Country, ha.
  13. Some snowfall last night up on the Gaspe in the Maritimes. Very green vegetation ha.
  14. Yeah I just didn’t get the HOA thing I guess. I agree most are middle class, with a wide definition. Never hear of HOA in suburbs up north.
  15. You really think that’s most of this New England forum you interact with on a daily basis?
  16. It’s not just about kid stuff. It’s half joking and not aimed at you… just that sometimes reading this thread one might think it’s just problem after problem and every reply is a cynical remark. Guess there’s not a lot of optimism running around these days lol.
  17. Cynicism running rampant this morning. Hard to see the good in anything, ha.
  18. Yeah getting widespread 30s for dews. A few stations mixing out to near 32F Td. We dry air.
  19. As top of mind still after the past year… fear is the most provocative emotion out there. The Communism fear is definitely a well leveraged one for decades.
  20. Agreed on all. Reminds me I need to read more of the Jack Ryan series. I got hooked last spring during the stay at home era… went through a half dozen of them but there are so many.
  21. We got 46F last night. Getting even drier out now at 61/39. Dews slipping into the 30s with a breeze, almost hoodie weather. Looks like SLK snuck down to 39F and HIE at 42F.
  22. 61/56 here. Temp is now lower than the dew point was for the previous 48 hours lol.
  23. BTV was probably close to that high, but very low RH. It’s still warm/hot in the sun. But those dews really matter. Loved the first bit of the heatwave… dews in 50s with 90F. Yesterday 85/70 was just miserable for anything outside except swimming.
  24. Words do not describe how good it feels outside, ha. A totally different world from this morning. 81/48 is the definition of great warm season weather.
