  1. Here we go again. Second round of thunder so far today. It is pitch black over Mansfield looking from Stowe. Some good thunder so far. Surprisingly active day.
  2. lol wow. Inside-the-park home run by Meadows to tie it 9-9 in the 9th inning. You've got to be kidding me.
  3. Sale is very lucky his stat line didn't get blown up. He gave up 10 hits but only got charged with 1 ER due to the error lost in the sun by Verdugo on the fly ball. On another aside, I'm starting to think Hunter Renfroe was one of the best off-season signings of any American League team. Talk about a hidden gem. Dollar for dollar he is hard to beat for production. The fact that he was DFA'd by Tampa Bay is crazy. Fan Graph's has his stat-line value this season as comparable to players getting paid $15 million and he's getting paid $3. The Sox have him for next year too with arbitration.
  4. Very poorly timed today. But sun is back out up here and it’s actually really nice out again. 2pm obs at MVL was 58/55 but we rebounding now back to mid-60s. Stratus showing 0.23”.
  5. Yeah glad to have gotten outdoor time this morning. Can still see blue sky to the east but it’s now very dark to the west. Decent shortwave moving through the area. Lots of Labor Day hikers were heading up the mountain when I left, probably just getting to the ridge line now…they are in for a surprise shortly.
  6. Got up at 4:30, dropped the wife off in BTV for a flight to NYC at 6am, came back to Stowe, then decided to grab the dog and go up to the picnic tables with a thermos of coffee and enjoy the morning. A little chilly up here with occasional clouds grazing the top and a stiff breeze… but what a beautiful Labor Day morning.
  7. It could be +0.5 . Those climate probability maps are tough to gain much from except they think warm anomalies will be centered in heart of nation.
  8. I don’t know what “solid warmth” is but sounds more like push back on any fall weather narrative… but 30-40% chance of AN literally means new baseline normal it seems as Tip often points out. That prob map could be like: AN Chance: 40% Normal: 30% BN Chance: 30% Doesn't seem to have a strong signal either direction, just lean baseline slightly above normal all 365 days a year lol.
  9. Looks like background CC type values in our area. 33-40% chance above normal. Thats real nice weather in September. Highs low 70s, lows upper 40s?
  10. Yeah I think I was 19-20 on WWBB and now mid-30s… yikes time has flown by.
  11. They’ve got a decent amount of money freeing up this offseason. Sign Devers to an extension, find a true closer, and add another bat. I still think they are waiting on 1st base for Tristan Casas (#19 MLB prospect) who crushed it for Team USA this year and just hit 5 home runs in 2 days in Portland (one went 480 feet lol)… so a first base signing seems unlikely IMO as Casas projects sometime next summer. They need to figure out 2nd base for sure. Good team to build on and money becoming available… good spot to be in.
  12. Unofficial end of summer this weekend. Time for frosts, fall foliage and eventually first snow on the peaks (apparently not in September these days, ha). Though to be fair, the Champlain Valley pictured here likely has a 90+ day left .
  13. Nada mas. 3-16 with RISP will eventually get you. I’m just impressed they didn’t completely mail it in when losing 6-0. They made it interesting. Sooner or later one of these replacement pitchers was going to get rocked.
  14. They’d have tied this game already if they had some disciple last couple innings. Not giving up yet.
  15. Still waiting for that perfect Arizona summer with no rain and every day outside all day. Bit too much rain since July 4th. Stein can camp in my yard.
  16. Shows how long it takes to remove the abnormally dry designation… still seeing that from May/June dry weather. Been pretty wet since mid-July… not SNE wet but the garden hasn’t needed water for a long time.
  17. The funny thing though is most of those snow seasons that featured September snows at the picnic tables in the 1980s were terrible winters on the whole. Must’ve been cold September’s and then meh winters.
  18. Those are the years I see the snowfalls for Mansfield from… like a 4” event in Sept 1986, 1” in 1989 and 2.5” in 1991. There was 5 measurable September snows in a decade there from early 80s to early 90s… not a single measurable September snow since the 1990s. Looks like a trace in 2009 but other than that, nothing even remotely close to September’s from 1981 to 1991 when it seems snowfall in that month was almost regular. I’ve seen freezing mist, super-cooled droplet clear icing in September up on the hill, but I always look at those past records like how the hell were they getting 1-4 inch events in September with some frequency.
  19. Yeah wasn’t he the morning guy on one of the National shows? I vaguely remember him and Al Roker overlapping at some point. TWC in the mid ‘90s was my drug of choice .
  20. A guess would be wherever COVID discussion is happening. He’ll hopefully be back when it starts snowing up at his NH place.
  21. That 9th inning was like a punch to the nut sack that turned into a hand job. Never know what’s going to happen.
  22. I’ve noticed it subtly as well, nothing that would ever show up in a photo but yellowish green and some species is going more towards purple than green. I don’t think any normal human would call it “color change” though… just a subtle hint that something is in the works from the deep dark green of mid-summer.
  23. Wife was meeting a friend… through wife’s level at work, we had comped rooms at the Boston Park Plaza. Stayed on the top floor (15), crazy vibe sleeping in that city environment. I enjoy it as an opposite feeling to here at home up north. Boston is a cool city… on the water and north.
