  1. It goes both ways and it’s both disturbing as a way to say “told ya so!” Vaccinated love pointing out unvaxxed who are sick or dying… meanwhile the unvaccinated also come off as getting pleasure from hearing vaccinated folks are getting sick and almost cheer for vaccine complications. Both sides using people’s health to prove their points…almost gleefully.
  2. It’s a vibe, too. In the mountains, the cool air just hits differently, like it’s expected on those dry dew point days. Cool nights and warm days with large swings happen no matter what season.
  3. I still remember back in like junior high when someone told me what those were called... like huh? A “wife beater”? Yeah I mean, it makes sense. Ha, it's hilarious...that was just the way it was. If you ever saw a COPS episode for domestic violence back then, every single one of the suspects were filmed with that type of undershirt. Usually in like a humid Florida trailer park .
  4. Shorts and hoodie for life. Flip flops occasionally. Should wear them more, very easy and low maintenance.
  5. Manchester VT area getting another 0.8-1.4" so far. What a wet few days. Took the dog out and we are 0.47" so far. Best is by far south and east again.
  6. The vast majority are with you on that. And been living our lives. COVID goes away quick when you just go about your day, ha. If it wasn’t for this thread to keep us informed… there’s life happening.
  7. Wiz watching covered bridges and chairlifts float by in Hartford.
  8. Nice that’s about what I figured. Waterway crosses under road, gets overrun or blocked, water now goes down road as new River bed. Looks like a great flash flood damage set up on that topo map.
  9. Normally there is a drainage that gets diverted or overwhelmed. Culvert clogged with logs, trees, debris or just too much water… I don’t know but my bet is uphill there a small waterway just got absolutely overrun so the water looked for the next path of least resistance and went down the road, eating it up over the course of like 2-3 hours. Flash flooding in terrain has to be one of the most powerful damaging weather phenomenon. That stuff is crazy.
  10. Yeah I don’t pay attention to any of it outside this thread but I don’t doubt it, there’s obviously a reason to be defensive. I just don’t know why everyone wants to blame each other like functioning in society is a team sport. And the more people blame each other the more the two sides dig in. It goes no where.
  11. It was definitely for the Berlin moms.
  12. And the blame game goes ‘round and ‘round again.
  13. From the flash flooding the other night in Manchester, VT… that road took a beating.
  14. This is an experience that covers a very large part of the nation. Life is normal. Even if someone else wants to wear a mask, who cares? They’ve been doing it in Asia for a while. Human evolution to keep protecting oneself. They may have medical reasons for it too. But if you don’t have to, it’s no different than them wearing a different kind of shirt. You just go about your business and they go about theirs.
  15. Just move your sensor closer to your lawn. Keep it just above the grass blades. The dew point can be whatever you want it to be.
  16. Americans need to go back to the time before 24/7 news, the constant need for drama, opinions galore at the fingertip. We should turn it all off. Go about your day. You’d never know what was going on outside your bubble, which is all that really matters. If you missed the morning news at 6am or the evening national news, you had no idea what was going on and “ignorance is bliss” has some positives. You just lived.
  17. Surely with these temps you must be dressed head to toe in flannel and have several blankets over you too? Maybe a portable heater in order to survive on a porch tonight?
  18. Don’t worry there will be plenty of hot and humid autumn evenings when you want it crisp and cool in Rocktober.
  19. I mean let’s be fair, we are all weather junkies and I’m addicted to looking at every model run all winter long. If a hurricane is hitting we are all addicted to the drama of it. Like Tip always talks about, we are sort of slaves to technology giving us information. Weather, sports, news, whatever. I know one up here who hates on the media for talking about COVID but then they’ll have 4 browsers open at work while eating lunch streaming FOX and CNN like they can’t get enough of it. Humans love the drama. I always say you can live in a local bubble very easily if you want to and totally tune out news. Hell I feel like I wouldn’t know if half the United States just floated away into the Pacific unless it was mentioned on this forum or maybe the Red Sox broadcast mentioned it .
  20. This thread is my only window into COVID, it’s felt done for a long time but not sure what else we’d talk about here without it… the weather? Ha! In all seriousness though humanity loves drama. People love drama. They crave it and are obsessed with it. Addicted to 24/7 news cycles, always checking news sites, etc. COVID is drama. I truly believe people on both sides of the debate are just addicted to the drama of it all too.
  21. NWS knows. NEAR TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/... As of 333 PM EDT Saturday...The forecast for the next 12 hours continues to feature pleasant fall-like weather and increasing clouds. Temperatures are in the upper 60s to mid 70s, and dewpoints are in the 40s to near 50. It`s about as perfect as the weather can get for a Saturday afternoon.
  22. A couple of top 10s the past several few days. Just suffering through this air mass. Asking all the families picnicking at the picnic tables, “isn’t this just awful?”
  23. I should set a cam up on the Rec Path or any hiking trail. Rec Path is like I-93 in Boston with bikes right now. Kids swimming in the river (they dgaf)… like Tamarack said, the sun is still very warm. Big shade/sun difference today.
  24. Holy f’ing shit. That one at the end that just annihilates the bridge.
