  1. Had 0.20" rain early this morning and I was afraid if the sun came out all that would do is juice the low levels more. Still damp out there. Had more clouds than expected and you can tell from BTV's AFD they are a little concerned on the clouds and temps running 3-5 behind guidance. It's really not bad out there without sun.
  2. The Yankees actually started doing much better when they turned into the Scranton Rail Riders. That happens when you get guys trying to prove themselves vs established guys who were playing flat footed and comfortable they won’t lose their job. If anything as Sox fans we should’ve wished they kept trodding out that product they did the first half of the season without adding the scrappy AAA guys trying to prove something.
  3. That and 14 for 17 with RISP in past 10 games. But each night it’s another guy. Whitlock has been in rookie of the year discussions and of course he picks tonight to have his 2nd blown hold of the season. Just said he needs to learn faster in the outing… said after they plastered a few hits Boggie came up to him and said they are ambushing fastballs. He then struck next two batters out throwing just change ups. Sucks to see him get hit a bit, he owned it after the game. Barnes has just forgotten how to get batters out after he signed his contract extension at the All-Star Break.
  4. Getting that thick natural base down in November is an absolute game changer. That year was a monster snowpack season due to that start. Basically starting Dec 1st in 2018 with what we had last winter in Feb/Mar heart of winter.
  5. Barnes with 3rd blown game in last 4. It’s incredible.
  6. Looks like it’s Whitlock tonight. He picked a great time to finally decide not to get everyone out. Every night a different player regresses, it’s incredible! That and bases loaded 2 outs and JD barrels a ball 395ft and the reason it’s not a grand slam is he hits it to the triangle in center. Perfectly placed fly out.
  7. Terrifying that the Rays have the most come from behind wins in MLB (just ahead of the Sox) AND they lead all teams in runs scored in both the 8th and 9th innings.
  8. Warm evening. Mid-70s even up at the picnic tables.
  9. What also hurts is that going on a terrible two week rough streak isn’t completely uncommon (the Jays, Rays and Yanks have also had some rough patches)… it’s that those three teams have the best three records in all of MLB since the All-Star break. Timing the best records of the division rivals with a terrible two week period is no bueno. If they were playing .500 ball it would be much less noticeable.
  10. Ha plenty of it given in the sports thread. Luckily they were off yesterday so they couldn’t find a way to lose. The tides have turned, the Yankees tried so many times last night to lose that game but KC said nope, you can blow 4 different save situations but we’ll still let you win. That’s some first half Red Sox stuff there. The two teams switched from finding ways to win to finding ways to lose.
  11. No doubt. With time, hospitals will figure out “best practices” for giving care. It was certainly a learning curve. Over time it became obvious extra sites were overkill.
  12. I do believe the extra hospitals were overkill, but my sister who is a pharmacist for patients in a NYC hospital has shown personal photos within the Mount Sinai hospital system where the lobby was filled with beds of patients being short of breath. Not going to share her personal photos. Discovery Channel has made a documentary called “The Surge at Mount Sinai.” It was one of the few spots that maxed out… of course being in NYC in the very beginning, people were curious what was wrong with them too.
  13. I think he’s down in the mid-Atlantic a lot this time of year…. I can tell you living in the country in NNE right now you wouldn’t be able to be that concerned with COVID. I think he knows if his life revolved around N.NH/BML he wouldn’t need to think about it. The rat race can be brutal in the suburbs.
  14. Some November 2018 nostalgia... Snowvember. First two are from the base area and then third is from up high. That was like instant heavy dense snowpack over a series of QPF rich systems.
  15. How much longer until the puddles connect into one big one?
  16. You sir better specify that... Mansfield, Connecticut .
  17. Many of us regulars too just gave up and joined the convo, ha. Not necessarily content police but nostalgia for the old ways of the forum. You checked in as a way to escape real life issues and talk weather with other weather fanatics, vs. coming to hear thoughts on society’s problems and maybe discuss weather on the side. But there’d also be 6 hours at a time between posts in the summer. I agree though if we are going to do COVID convo just let everyone in the pool at once and see who drowns .
  18. I hated country growing up but now I feel middle aged when I find myself tuning in more and more. That twang.
  19. “Mom, what’s Dad doing?” ”Oh he got fired up from his weather forum but instead of running around measuring snow like he usually does, he’s been standing on the front porch waving an American flag for an hour now.” ”From his weather forum?” ”Yeah maybe they found out it attracts those moths he’s obsessed with.”
  20. I don’t agree with forced vaccinations, your body your choice. My comment was based on you thinking our military members have freedoms. The military is the literal opposite of freedom. You do what they tell you, when they tell you and you don’t ask questions.
  21. People in the military are FAR from “free”… they have an entire separate military police force to track you down if you try to leave. And you listen to those above you and do not question it. I can’t think of a worse example to make for freedoms than the military. They fight for freedom but they are far from free.
  22. “My college buddies told me to take two of the red pills with them and see where the day takes us. Next thing I know I’m sitting in the Capitol wearing uncle Donny’s wolf hide with a bear head, my buddies are dressed like Vikings, and the SWAT team is approaching us. All I wanted was a little recreational fun.”
  23. You’re my type of dude, love the random one liners from left field…even if disagreeing it’s done with humor. And the world needs more humor.
  24. Ha no that’s exactly what banter used to be. Would see 15 posts a week of “79/63 partly sunny” in the summer .
