Is that real impressive? It’s been like mid/upper-70s to the Canadian border at times this week. Figured BDL would be like 85F+ haha. Only got to 70F today though. Went downhill after 1-2pm.

We just got hit with another squall line and even thunder/lightning that put the Gondolas on hold. 0.44” at the mountain today. Looks like 0.25-0.40” in town. Had some nice sun late morning and early afternoon for the line came through.

Yeah it’s likely he just doesn’t like winter and it really has nothing to do with culture. I mean we’ve seen it on this forum… how many on here hated heat, warmth, etc 10-15 years ago and now embrace it? Even folks who like big snowstorms on here saying they don’t know if they enjoy winter because it’s months of dark dreary weather hoping you get a big one. His personal preferences might have changed a bit too since he got in the field.

Cloudy this morning for like the first time in a week. Bummer, the sunshine streak is ovah. Some rain showers too.

Yeah that’s how I feel. Would rather go from a fantastic week like this last one of 60s and 70s every day with sun straight to snow… but that’s not how it works. Anything to avoid highs in the 40-55F range. At least if it’s going to be like that it better be sunny ha.

Time for fantasy land snows… All weenie fodder aside, a steady diet of troughs moving through in the long range is the pattern for early season snows as we go into late October. Just keep the troughs of sub-0C 850 air coming and the mountains/hills might get lucky at some point if something can dig/amplify a bit. Some H6-H7 mid-level Magic punching the DGZ. Some good soundings around to remind you winter is coming.

Not going to lie, I want some clouds and more moody weather for foliage photography . The full sun at times seems to wash out the colors at the midday light but it’s still looking ridiculous. The after work hikes with lower sun angle makes it hard to not stop and stare every few minutes. I think some cloudy vibes tomorrow, maybe some fog/mid-slope clouds too, will really bring out the saturation in the leaves. However, for weather to get outside and hike and enjoy this time of year… that was one ridiculous sunny stretch we just had from last weekend through today. And no “double peak” where you get some species flaming out while others are still green. It’s all going at the same time.

You should post more. Logic and reasoning is an underrated human trait. 75/43 currently up here. Glorious.

It’s about peak or on the early side of the “peak range” but should linger. I’m hopeful the winds behind the FROPA aren’t too bad on Friday/Saturday.

Yup. 74F so far off a low of 36F. Should hit the nice 40F diurnal swing that signals great weather this time of year.

Weather will take you to the woodshed if you put absolutes on everything like “definitely” and “always.” There’s a lot of gray area in meteorology.

As sad as this dumpster fire season has been, I just tuned in to listen to Dennis Eckersley’s final inning of broadcasting. Listening to Eck get a bit choked up here in the 9th, going to be tough to fill his “pair of shoes.”

Humid dews down there?

I was just thinking about what’s different in winter vs now… it’s the temps relative to normal. This time of year (or spring, summer) if you are out of the precip and clouds… it’s warm/mild relative to normal. Smoking cirrus in January is like a High of 8F vs having an area of like 45F and sun north of a snowstorm. Now it’s like wow, nice comfy day. You miss south in winter and it’s like wow, its fukkin frigid and breezy.

Wild differences from SE NE to NW NE this week. In winter it’s hanging from Reindeer sweaters but this time of year it’s like the Sound of Music prancing through a field of color haha. Kev’s Ricola commercial comparison.

What a day to smoke some minor cirrus. The after work dog walk is not disappointing. Day after day of sunshine and mild afternoons following crisp mornings. Not sure it could get any more pleasant out here. 72/25 for 17% RH this afternoon at the ASOS in the valley. 10/10 all week long.

There will be plenty of runoff this winter for sure.

Crawford Notch, NH today. Just a top 10 type weather day all around. Frosty morning followed by 60s and sunshine all afternoon.

From Stowe through NEK of VT into your neighborhood, then south through Crawford Notch… the best color is like literally the lower mellow slopes around Bretton Woods ski area itself. Even over towards Mount Washington, the lower slopes aren’t as colorful as like the 1300-2000ft elevations around Bretton Woods. Less color in the Notch and south. I think the actual hillside the ski area resides is the best color around, ha.
