  1. Negative. Half inch at 1500ft. 6" at 800ft, ha. Its more of a latitude thing than a elevation. It's dumping like 2-3 miles SE of the summit.
  2. It’s still crushing in the zone. My wife reports heavy snow at Topnotch. That zone has to be over 6” now in the standing wave on RT 108.
  3. Hey now, up to 4-5”, ha. Still snowing in town.
  4. I've only seen these standing waves over town from Mansfield a few times, but this one has gone for like 8 hours of 1/2" per hour snow. It's super weird... and it's not just high ratio snow. It's kind of wet. Also, other parts of Stowe have had just a dusting like Nebraska Valley. This is literally just on RT 108/Mountain Road. Tourists/visitors are going to be confused as hell... waking up to 3-5" of paste at all the lodging properties along the road... only to find it didn't really snow at the mountain.
  5. Town getting smoked while mountain gets nothing. 3-5” along the Mountain Road from standing wave but as soon as you go up in elevation towards the ski area it disappears. The tourists are going to go bonkers. Like how the hell do you explain mountain topography where there’s 5” at Edson Hill and RT 108 intersection but half an inch at the base of the mountain. I had 3” and still snowing at home when I left.
  6. 3” overnight. God this looks so much better than endless April.
  7. What a nice little upslope surprise. 2-3” out there pasting everything. Winter is back. This is a standing wave off Mansfield that’s been going for like 6 hours.
  8. We didn’t get anything down here at the valley bottom (750ft) from the synoptic earlier… but orographic snow showers are whitening it up in the village this evening. Sort of a standing wave downstream of Mansfield right now, so hope it keeps up with some residence time.
  9. My car was completely coated in ice this evening leaving the mountain. Like enough that you aren’t scraping it… legit freezing rain and pixie dust. Half inch of snow and then ice. Exactly what the mountain needed, an evening of sheet drizzle at 26F.
  10. Been a rough go of it since the major flooding 10 days ago now. No end-of-the-day, parking-lot, snowy vibes photos even. Just no winter vibes. We feel lucky for the multi-week stretch of paste jobs seen earlier in the season.
  11. Thats the month! More inches of rain than snow but with significant below normal departures during coldest month of year.
  12. Feel like Nittany was a BTV met at some point. But agreed, like the logical and articulated points put forth.
  13. That product was awesome. No pretty colors. All black and white. But if the source region was popping -negative values, you knew a cold stretch was coming.
  14. Irate month. Just smashing household items. Leon can kiss my ass lol.
  15. Thats when you know it’s not cold… cold and W/NW flow means lake effect and upslope. Warm won’t get that done.
  16. Still fresh in the mind though so doesn’t feel that bad. I mean we did have a great 3-4 week run though. Had snow cover at home for like a month, we’ve had worst. It’s just not good right now.
  17. It could be worse though, much worse. This was 12/27/2015. At least all trails are white and the mountain passes for winter. Everything is based off 2015-16, just 8 years ago. Its rough, but no where near the worst in even the past 10 years.
  18. This is the catch-22 right now… aesthetically in our minds, we want the cold, flurries, snow guns cranking, type days. But conditions right now when soft are likely better. When this freezes again it’s just going to be hardpack that skis off to ice. We need some natural snowfall. Even just a few days of upslope, but 6”+ natural is needed to really make the current trails fun again IMO. It could be a wait.
  19. It is… it hit me today, knowing another mild rainy day is coming tomorrow, with a little CAA on Friday but not much. It has felt very much like April over the 7-10 days. Flooding rain/snowmelt was now 9 days ago and nothing close to winter since then. Only a half inch covering passed as snow cover for a few days in there. It’s just glacial larger plow piles, grass, and elevated water levels. April.
  20. By previous pattern you mean one that doesn’t snow. Thats the problem. It might be a completely different pattern but like Ray said, if it’s not snowing in your backyard, it’s just going back to the “old” (aka non-snowy) pattern. There are two types of patterns at this point for some folks… one that snows and one that doesn’t. Doesn’t matter how the actual atmosphere looks across northern hemisphere.
  21. Agreed. We’ve actually been pretty busy. Starting to rain now though so starting to dial it back a bit. Past two days were busiest of the season, not much surprise. I mean everyone pre-buys and prebooks lodging in the area that’s all non-refundable. Beginners also don’t care, all that terrain is open anyway. Stowe is more destination than day trip type place, so we seem less affected by weather. They book lodging and stuff, they are going skiing.
  22. Today was like spring skiing. Soft snow, bumps forming, some sun. Could be worse but definitely not mid-winter. If there’s a week with bad ski weather, it’s Xmas week every year.
  23. Dense fog at 30F this morning had an April morning type vibe. With late December darkness.
  24. How was his post lacking respect? Lol. I may not agree with the pessimism but are we looking for everyone to bow down to our thoughts?
