  1. Ha. Looks like MPV nearby is showing 7 mile vis -SN/flurries… so some snow showers in the vicinity there at least.
  2. Thursday morning looks at least a bit less boring than every other day lately for CNE/NNE. First widespread light wintery mix event. D-2” snow followed by light icing to rain showers?
  3. At work today we hit 51F and now fallen back into the 30s. 0.58” rain, it was miserable to be honest to even walk outside in wind-driven rain for several hours.
  4. Standing on hind legs, licking the bird feeder.
  5. That’s where I’m at. We lose some wiggle room but gain some precipitable water and have higher chances of singular large or impactful winter events. Saw BTV posted this today. Growing season getting longer, maybe that’s why Joe Bastardi notices fatter deer… more growing, more food.
  6. I feel like it’s hard to call for a rat any time climo is such that one big event or a two week run of snows can remove a location from rat status. To what Tip said, snowfall seems to be more in singular large events recently rather than a sustained month(s) of consistent snows and winter.
  7. Skiing and riding is popular these days. Especially if you are the only game in town. Numerous people out earning turns at Stowe after snowmaking allowed for nearly 2,000 vertical feet of turns if you are ok with some fast grass in places. Yesterday it was looking surprisingly good for the top 1,000 verts from the quad unload down to the top of the six pack. The lower 1k feet of elevation from 2600-1500ft saw about half the runtime and was more marginal.
  8. Today was pretty dreary. Just some occasional sprinkles and misery mist but so dark all day long. Welcome to November.
  9. Yeah it was also thick clouds and -RN this morning. So we weren’t able to drop at all last night. Looks like CON reported CLR until this morning and 40F. It’s all about radiating ability this time of year.
  10. It’s funny because the ski area is largely E/NE aspect of Mansfield and it’s 100% the cold side. Like winter, felt mid-20s. But you can’t see really any other snow on neighboring hills. Spruce Peak across the road bare to summit. I popped out up top and into the sunshine and SW wind and it felt mild, like the temp went from 25F on the upper east slope to 35-40F out on the SW aspect. Its easy to see why in the 1930s to 1950s they put the ski trails where they are lol. Like walk around the mountain and they had to be like, why does that area appear much more wintry? There’s always snow here, while not on that side over there.
  11. Holding onto winter for Torch Tiger this afternoon.
  12. Just the nip. We love the taste. Barely below freezing at 30-31F locally, but WAA moving in from the west. Coldest air is wedged in to the east.
  13. I’d add this link to live images from Stowe/Mt Mansfield on the Lookout shoulder just above 3,000ft. It’s not on the website yet because it’s not maintained. Obvious tilt and needs to be re-centered. It does rotate every 24 hours, and board isn’t scraped off yet. So any crusty snow/ice from a previous day could rotate back into view. https://player.timecam.tv/express/index.html?C=D786BEJG4F5A This is one of three “new snow”measured locations at Stowe. The other two being the classic Barnes Camp (1550ft) and High Road (3,014ft) plots that need to be checked in person during the operating season.
  14. Had a classic November hunters vibe at sun down at 1500ft. Stick season, cold, with a skiff of snow. The forest had a very strong nostalgic vibe for how you envision November.
  15. Wolfie I love you but it sounds like you are trying to convince yourself, ha.
  16. Absolutely frigid leaving the office. Wx station there said 27F gusting 20mph. It was clear a hoodie was not going to cut it. 30.5F at home with -SN and whitening rooftops and mulch beds, ha.
  17. Snowing hard all the sudden at the mountain. Big flakes. Could see how it would add up quickly if you were under persistent bands of this.
  18. Snowmaking at Stowe began last night as well.
  19. I’ll take some fake snow right now to get my fix.
  20. Crazy this peaked at 9” and now 90 minutes later that fluff is disappearing real fast. Now under 7”. Great localized high-ratio fluffer and dropping as fast as it rose.
  21. Seeing some minor accumulations and whitening of grassy surfaces in the Champlain Valley.
  22. Good burst of snow moving into the mountains up here. BTV down to 0.75 mile vis in snow too. METAR KBTV 011725Z AUTO 33010KT 3/4SM -SN BR SCT009 BKN014 OVC034 01/M01
  23. That looks like classic good snow growth over-performer. Models had pockets of like 0.30”< water… maybe ripping out 8-9” of fluff? Small mesoscale pockets?
