  1. I didn't think KU-esque bands were on the table with this thing, but I guess I should know by now that if it's a coastal low, someone's getting 3-4"/hr rates. Very impressive. 2.2" here, looks nice but hard to get excited about
  2. This leaves much to be desired in terms of moisture and mid-level lift. At least the air is cold enough to accommodate light snowfall rates. 1-3" still looks like a safe bet, with the hope that any localized enhancements within the initial WAA push can get one toward the high end of that range.
  3. Agree. It's hard to envision big totals anywhere to be fair... I'd be a little surprised if anyone sees half a foot. Not one of our classic blockbuster fringe jobs, thankfully.
  4. Not too much action up this way aside from some quick bursts of mixed precip in the last hour or so. Glad I don't have to travel south though.
  5. Oh good, the OPC maps are back.
  6. 9F here with a persistent breeze overnight (something something real cold...) Nice to be watching a potential wintry event in the short-medium range. Not to insinuate anything about this threat in particular, but it's been quite a while since we've had a big storm during the month of January. 6.5" gets me my biggest January snowfall since 2011.
  7. Despite staying dry today, the overcast streak continued. Tuesday was the last time my PWS recorded more than 100 w/m2 of solar irradiance.
  8. At least this system is escorting out the soupy air that's been in place for days on end. Might even see the sun tomorrow.
  9. I'm old enough to remember "the virus will go away after the election."
  10. Merry Christmas, folks! The fog is burning off a bit here, but still dreary as we head into our final hour of daylight. Hopefully Santa brought everyone a 1/10th"-increment ruler.
  11. They have pretty good ointments for that now
  12. Well yeah, compared to the old structure a pontoon bridge would have been an improvement. I just am not a fan of the brutalist tower design. It reminds me of the old hostile architecture concepts for communicating nuclear waste dangers to future civilizations
  13. That wouldn't have been very Christmassy 0.6" new snow here, looks nice with the lights like you mentioned
  14. Kind of feels like a Kevin to me, maybe Steve.
  15. Nothing too crazy here so far. The dews did feel kind of nice earlier
  16. I've given up trying to explain it to people. "Nah, everyone knows the earliest sunset is on the solstice!" ...yes, of course, silly me
  17. You add them together to get your final total, right?
  18. Hard to tell how bad the damage really is here. It looks like a big mess at first but upon closer inspection seems to be just various angles of the same one tree. https://hudsonvalleypost.com/wild-weather-closes-roads-in-hudson-valley-delays-to-train/
  19. Same here, and with a biting wind. It's a good thing tomorrow is the first official day of winter. Imagine how silly we'd all feel if we went around saying it's still autumn for another three weeks.
  20. Snowing once again. It took its time, but winter flipped on like a switch this year.
  21. Even the elevated northeastern towns in Dutchess got 4-6". I wouldn't be surprised if there was close to a foot on top of Brace. 0.6" new this morning as mood flakes continue. Ideal wx for cutting my tree!
