  1. Think the cutoff was somewhere between Storrs and Willington.
  2. Agreed - Currier and Ives type potential here. Meh'ing away to 3,4,5" over many hours.
  3. Let's just get snow falling from the sky. Don't care how much - just make it white. Please.
  4. Let’s go for the winter of futility! How close to 0” can we get? .
  5. If we could ever score a 3-6 incher…tell me it would not feel like we got 2 feet. .
  6. Fun to have a threat to dream about for 2 hours!
  7. These situations feel like the way to break juju of a terrible pattern.
  8. Someone here who has a better memory than me: when is the last time we have had a "last minute surprise" storm pop positively? Can't recall the lead time on last winter's blizzard. Beyond that, it is not as if we have a lot of recent history to work with given the relative downward trend in threats.
  9. Pleading the case to NOT start a new thread for this weekend. Call me superstitious, but the seasonal trend has been thread = step 1 in recipe to cancel any threat.
  10. Wow woke up to the whitest morning of the winter here - whopping trace of snow! Feels nice to see everything white no matter how little. .
  11. Agreed on seasonal trends point. Was thinking of that yesterday when I saw this is the anniversary of the 96 blizzard. 95-96 winter was one my favorites growing up - textbook example of fairly consistent pattern. It’s easy to think negative today, but hard not for the mind to wander and consider a true futility winter. If 2015 can happen, so can the opposite one of these years. .
  12. SE Mass getting payback for a handful of money seasons. It all evens out eventually. .
  13. Three unrelated thoughts 1 - agree with recent sentiment. What happened to the good ole fashioned 4-8” storms of the early 90s? Bring them back. 2 - unfathomable that we went through a decently cold December and could not cash in for much of anything (12/9 was a non factor here). 3 - with a January thaw incoming till 1/7 or so, we are on the clock in a big way to put up or go home. Feels like the last few years that if you don’t have decent pack by 2/7 or so, the sun angles are coming for you. If we can’t put up some points on the board by MLK, bring on an early spring before the Groundhog calls it. .
  14. Judging strictly on visual and sound, this may be the strongest wind gusts yet in last 10ish minutes here in Hingham. .
  15. Any chance we can whiten the ground in Eastern Mass on the back end of this Grinch to at least doctor the scene and qualify for a White Christmas?
  16. Really tiring of the two week winters with 1 or 2 storms. The older I get, the more I am starting to favor summer over winter. Winter feels infinitely longer when you toggle between cold/dry/bare trees and warm rainers.
  17. To some of the comments above, I would take it as a huge step to get some OES flakes and mood snows going next week. As long as we don't have to break out the shorts in December again, I will take this as a win / step to some more sensible winter weather.
  18. Solid .6" here. Moderate rain - hoping it is maximizing what is being soaked up. I know this is insane to say, but almost forgot what it is like to have a rainy day.
  19. Finally feels like July. Bring it on. .
  20. That was epic. Almost instant lightning flash and house shaking thunder.
  21. Wow, I am surprised by the sentiment over the last couple pages of this thread. I admit April has been hardly perfect, but it has felt decent in the context of other really horrible Aprils we have had.
  22. 1.5” and coming down good. Like I said yesterday, hard to not enjoy a wintery looking afternoon in mid March. These days are fleeting.
  23. Love that we have spent multiple of the past few Marches complaining about nothing to track/no snow. Now, we have a situation that will make it at least look winter like outside and we are sitting here having sun angle talk/willing this thing not to happen.
  24. Sign me up for the mood snow. Nice little bonus winter vibes.
