  1. Philly actually. Been here for16 years but whatever. I know what winter is and I’m sorry it’s been so balmy for you on the coast
  2. Deep winner is 5 inches of snow on the ground and 15° below zero. The wind and cloud conditions for much of January didn’t allow the lows to go very low so our mean temperature for the month is artificially high. In my opinion. It hasn’t been a bitter month, but it’s been a solidly cold month up here The gulf stream may be kissing and nuzzling the nape of Portsmouth, but it’s winter up here a few dozen miles to your west in the coastalplain.
  3. -15 -14 -13 in The cold areas within 2 miles of me in Boscawen
  4. We haven’t had the minimum yet for this morning
  5. Meanwhile, blizzard just issued in coastal Louisiana
  6. Nighttime lows have been held higher by wind but daytime highs maybe are below average
  7. in simple terms from a non-meteorologist, I just assume something will pop up at some point in this fast flow. No expectations for a biggie, but we'll probably get one in February. Just thinking by Wednesday we'll be tracking something in the 5-7 day. That is just a guess based on how this season is going. But you give an actual scientific rationale.
  8. on a hill and lots of wind and blowing snow, so hard to measure. But I have a stick in an open part of the woods. It shows 8.5" this morning but there was already around 2 on the ground. So I probably managed close to 6. It really is stunning.
  9. The storm won the game for the Iggles. I’m pretty sure.
  10. Between the Iggles and putting the kids to bed, I haven’t been paying much attention. Maybe 2” but not heavy yet here
  11. I realize the models haven’t been too enthusiastic today, but where I’m sitting I’m looking at a pretty great radar that is cranking up
  12. Looks like Philly is getting dry slotted, but the banding from the north west suburbs of DC through Northern Maryland and west of Philly looks really sweet. I’m hoping that translates up here.
  13. If the cold air stays more centered over the Midwest that doesn’t that leave an opening for something to come up the coast
  14. I don’t know, but the radar doesn’t look too bad to me. It looks like it’s just starting to get its act together.
  15. Apparently front has slowed, slower than modeled coming into mid Atlantic. Don’t know if that impacts up here
