  1. I dunno, I'd rather get more good quality snow than 2 or 3" of slush. ...and that's what I got today, 2-3" of mush. It's more like 4" on certain surfaces. 2" max on the driveway away from the house because it's melting from underneath. 2" puts me at 21" for the season!
  2. Overperformer? Sort of. In shady areas that haven't really warmed up despite temps in the 60s have well over 1" but everything else is .5 or so. Some hard exposed surfaces are over 1 too. If this was at night with the same temps I think it would be more like 3 or even 4". This assinine obsession with it needing to snow during the day so it can be seen is bullxxxx. They want extreme, more more... and then complain it sux because it melts off quickly but they want it during the day. In March
  3. Down to 32 and almost moderate with little mixing so it's accumulating now. I'll take it.
  4. I kinda like them. Not for the absolute numbers but to see snowfall patterns in pretty colors. I can look at a few different snowfall maps and it's easy to visualize good and not so good areas. It makes it easier to decide where to ski and the best way to get there
  5. At least it started as a snow-like substance and now it's all flakes. At 34° I don't know if it stays white though unless it gets heavier and cools it down a little.
  6. Nice breeze dried out the overly wet surface a little bit which is nice. I guess I got lucky because there's no noticeable damage from the wind. So what, one inch tomorrow? Those weekend maps look ugly.
  7. Like I said, when the conditions are right. Their loss. I'm gonna go find some slushy, bumpy goodness on Monday
  8. Who doesn't ski trees? If the conditions are sufficient that's the only place I want to be.
  9. No, no rain would be terrible. After a relatively dry last 7 months we need the water. There's very little snowmelt going to go into the reservoirs and those of us that live with wells also need it. Drought sucks and it can be worse than too wet.
  10. Oh please no :( Winter can be over, I'm fine with it but please not 4 rainstorms in less than 2 weeks.
  11. Winter can hang on north of I90 or above 1500 feet north of 84 for another couple of weeks but it needs to be done down here.
  12. IOW a winter similar to what we used to get before the supercharged transition era? Yeah.
  13. 20 years. You know the drill Give him 20 years and he'll be as dumb as... me
  14. I need 30" to get to average. Two blockbusters ain't happening. Glad you're closer to seeing it happen.
  15. One thing that always stuck out to me when reading the early history of the area is the early Dutch settlers often mentioned snow on the ground, on Manhattan island, well into what we consider to be spring now. For the area to have a snowpack well into March was quite common and in many cases agricultural seasons were much shorter than they are now with cold and snow being a thing at both ends of the winter.
  16. I'm still just short of 20". I hope Walt is right and we get a couple of nickel and dime events over the next week or so. Since we have white stuff on the ground we should see if we can hit or even pass 40 days with snowcover in a low snow winter.
  17. I think part of the problem is some people don't even learn a little bit. I mean extreme emotional responses to mundane events. "Waaaahhhh I'm not the one getting more than 4"..." You're just realizing these two things now?
  18. Yup. Good thing I spent those hours cleaning where we have to walk because the rest of the property is mostly inaccessible.
  19. Until these things were available we didn't see the kind of extreme event emotion we see now. As more layers and solutions are offered it gets worse.
  20. Yeah the 35° it's up to, with thick clouds, is really helping to melt some of this garbage
  21. With as much moisture as was in this crap I should only be a foot or so below average at this point but I'm still more like 18-20" short. This stuff sux
