  1. I like that area, stayed in the double tree in leominster quite a bit, used to go through Gardner on my way home sometime RT 2 instead of the pike
  2. I have to imagine Otis, Lee, Becket area has seen some accumulation, they have been under some nice echoes for a grip as well, nice batch moving towards Manchester NH too it looks like
  3. roads must be a sheet of ice because people are creeping out there, glad I got my stuff done early, I want no part of that, snow I love but ice especially with some snow atop it is the worst, wrapped my truck around a pole when I was younger on that crap
  4. I nearly spit my water out at this, while I watch a steady light snow and plummeting temps, despite radar, been snowing since sun went down
  5. for him maybe, I'd be loving it, only reason he lives there is he was a sports beat writer for one of those buffalo papers, nice area where he lives
  6. uncle in williamsville outside buf is getting hammered right now with blizzard warnings and 2-3' more expected, this is the second time this year in the same area, that's nuts
  7. down to freezing now from a high of 53 at about noon, good little squall line came through with the front but nothing major, winds are about 10-15 occasionally gusting, this morning must've blown the tarp off the wood pile, everything wet on top couple layers, that was fun restacking... went to Waterbury earlier today and my brother in law lives on top of bunker hill, looked like a tornado went through, man limbs and debris every where, rouge garbage cans everywhere..
  8. yeah I'm in the same boat, think I'm going to get another station just for the anemometer and get it on the roof of the barn, mine is away from all dwellings but the wind is sheilded by them
  9. was thinking this is about how bad it was during Nicole landfall when I was down there, I was a bit south of actual landfall in Juno Beach but still... think these are the strongest sustained and gusts I've seen here since that tropical storm I mentioned where we lost power for days, isais I think or something, the one that the sfc low trucked up the Hudson valley at like 60mph, had maybe 4hours of this kind of wind, large limbs everywhere then, don't see anything today yet
  10. power off and on three times last hour, just north of me, just south on a different leg ... topped 60 gust on an unofficial station, top of Winchester hill I believe. I think there up around 1200' past highland lake.
  11. yeah I've been complaining about that for years, and people who complain about them trimming around power lines, if they do try to trim, have no stance when they loose power because of it
  12. power went off for a minute heard the transformer humming, branch musta been hitting it, sky lite green
  13. just had another flicker and a 45mph gust, nuts out there, trees around the house really worry me in situations like this
  14. yeah it definitely is, I actually remember walking to school in Waterbury in the 80s and plows on the road, one dog that used to chase cars got scooped up in the plow and shot out, dog was fine but pretty funny looking back at that, we lived on a state maintained road in Waterbury, so they used to come by at like 40-50mph, from thomaston, old RT 8, fun times
  15. exclusively IP/SN here now, nice little coating of ice snow on the deck... getting to the eversource situation, I am pretty pissed at them for years now, justifying hiking rates especially after 2011, with Irene then the snow storm, and just found out distribution rates are going to be going up almost 40% if not more, and I believe it was that tropical storm last year or year before that came racing up and knocked out power to a couple hundred thousand people, us being one, without power for days, but I still see many many limbs that are overhanging major trunk lines still not trimmed, but there is no other option than to spend 20k and get solar, off grid, because if you tie into the grid, they can shut it down without warning if say the grid is being overloaded, like they are doing in Australia now, and not telling customers so they think they will be fine, until they realize the utility company, from government orders, disconnected the solar on their house, crazy.
  16. thx, I seem to remember like widespread 60"+ on one of those nam runs, regardless they are going to get hammered with synoptic and then les, man, twice in one year having a multiple foot snow event there, is that uncommon? I know the tughill gets it almost yearly but around the Buf area, I don't recall... my uncle lives in I think Williamsport or burg, and remember one year he had like 65" in one event over a couple day period, but was strictly LES, regardless, that's insane
  17. this is insanely laughable, what storm was it that was spitting out numbers like this for our area, was that 2013, or 15?
  18. little IP/SN/RN mix to start here in Winsted... been sitting at 35/29 nearly all day, forgive me if this was already addressed, but are we still thinking these winds will mix down and verify at the sfc? some things I was seeing yesterday and earlier were looking at sustained 30-40 with 60+ gusts, also looks like the thermometer is going to break Fri night with a sick delta from a high of around 50...
  19. that's nuts, we should see some pretty sharp temp drops but not like that... I have people in North ID, and they say it's basically been snowing, near blizzard conditions and wind chills well below zero for over a week now, just getting pummeled there.
  20. where are these snow maps that aren't on the KU scale? I used to have the link saved, but my phone updated and I lost it, can you please share so I can save again
  21. forgot about that one, wasn't major here but plowable and still white Christmas regardless, thanks... yeah I remember that Thanksgiving one that was my first year driving in snow, albeit with a 67 Chevelle with 60s all around, would have been better driving with snow skis ha!
