  1. I remember that one, I was driving back from working in Queens that day, drive was a nightmare, if I'm thinking of the right one, was that the one that hit mid afternoon and wasn't expected to be much initially
  2. yeah I was going to say thought I remembered that from the Eastern days..
  3. yeah got 1.2" from that, then sleet and rain washed it away, there was a small pile of white by the time I returned from Florida that time, hoping for some good stuff before I have to come back in mid January for like 3 weeks...
  4. that is a cool site, hard to navigate on a phone, but a lot of nice strato info, to try and decipher... while I'm stuck back in Florida for a few days, just catching up on the goings on, I'm flying out on Friday, are we still looking at a possible retro this weekend?
  5. that's just insane " and to think only a small area if it trains right will see that and 30miles away hardly anything, my uncle lives just SW of buffalo I think Williamsport or burg something like that, one year I remember he got like 4-5'... this kind of event seems to happen like once a decade, I mean really large totals, I know it happens every year but not like that, no?
  6. fwiw, got a nice dusting after 4 this morning, looks and feels like December out there
  7. yeah love them awesome long duration ones, after looking through the archives, we had 25" at my then home in wtby, not sure what they got where I am now, I'll have to dig deeper, but definitely more the further SW you went, didn't Philly end up with like 3' or close to it? I remember I think Ashville NC, or somewhere near had over 4', good hammering Miller A up the coast. I personally prefer Miller B, but they are both awesome.
  8. 96 was one of my favorites at least when in Waterbury, it was the first time I had a truck, only had it for a few days, was in my mid 20s, and we driving around bar hopping all night with it. Probably one of the hardest I've seen it snow for a couple hour period after midnight, navigating by the faint glow of the street lights... believe we got 18-24" in that one can't remember exactly, but no ptype issues either as I recall.
  9. wife says over an inch in Winsted, everything covered looks gorgeous, still stuck here in FL, they're selling xmas trees next to palm trees while it's 85 just doesn't cut it to me
  10. my family hae property in Daytona Beach shores, about a mile from dunlawton, where that deck and lifeguard station went in, that entire zea wall was wrecked by Ian and this just put it over the top, lot of high rise condos, very near toppling into the Atlantic, crazy, I've been walking that stretch of beach since I was a kid, I may have to swing by on my way home just to assess the damage next week... crazy
  11. sad thing is most people only read headlines of clickbait articles these days and rarely read the article or research the facts of it...
  12. so.. after enduring Nicole here, . I leave here driving north up 81 on the 18th, chances I run into wintry on the way home?
  13. ah yeah, knew it was close to that time frame
  14. what was the last region wide measurable, more than 3", 2018? Didn't we have a decent event in early November 2011, after that freak storm, or do I have the wrong year
  15. it's not a cat three or better but no dung, wind field is massive, we just had a 70gust, albeit a local station so data is questionable, haven't looked at metar in a while
  16. yeah it's rockin outside right now, nice band come through, power flickering a bit
  17. nah ..a wee gale, but exciting nonetheless
  18. while everyone is focusing on snow that may be there right when I get back, I can say that I was within 20 miles of landfall of hurricane Nicole, stuck in hotel on Juno Beach, high tide at 2115, might have to go see that... latest Dropsonde showed over 62kts from surface up, eye near calm, definitely defined eye now...love this! first actual hurricane for me since Gloria
  19. some decent bands now coming onshore here in Juno Beach, has been gusty all day, but I can hear the surf, will try to get over there tomorrow and pull a cantore and get some video or pics, technically, if she does become a hurricane, would be the first since Gloria for me, Irene, Bob, all the others were TS when they hit my area at least...glad to see it's finally seasonally cool up there, I may be back just in time for snow...
  20. I popped in to see if anyone was discussing this, I'm currently in Juno Beach FL for work, track was coming right at me now appears slightly north, GFS still south tho it seems, it's been steady since last week with that, thoughts??
  21. is that what that was, I was down in the dirty a bit ago and saw a couple areas of police presence, heavy, watertown ave was shut too, anyway here we coat...temp falling off the cliff
  22. yeah that could have been it, was definitely between 98 and 04 when I was living at an apartment in Waterbury, that much I remember, the next place I lived was an awesome thundersnow storm in Feb in I'm pretty sure 05
  23. don't recall exactly what year, early 2000s I think, was literally gloomy and dank like April weather north of Richmond until June, remember driving to Florida that year and as soon as we hit that area, beautiful, two weeks there and on the way back after that spot back to dank, also think it snowed on opening day at yankee stadium too, 02 maybe? that sucked, late leaf out and everything
  24. that is cool thanks... I'ma steal it if you don't mind... really shows how the NW hills become the berks, then the greens, and shows the hilly terrain NECT into RI and SEMA
