Ray, good job with the analysis. Like always, hoping things shift that will favor a colder outcome for east of the rockies. Amo and Pdo could be very important.
-
If we can get a +pdo and some semblance of a -amo, we may be in good shape this winter

Its too far out to know anything. It should be cooler due to clouds and rain. Always fun to speculate. 2015-16 was +qbo east-central based.

Spring/Summer 2026 Pattern Discussion Thread
Golf757075 replied to Carvers Gap's topic in Tennessee Valley
Hello everyone. Half the year is over. Here's hoping we can get one decent winter storm this winter. Its always fun to track them but its always about timing -
Im cautiously optimistic that we can get one decent winter storm this upcoming winter. Should have an active southern branch and hopefully we have enough cold air. I live in west tennessee and typically we get one event and the occasional 2 events. All about timing
-
It would be nice. We didn't do well in west tennessee. We did good with the winter storm, but that was it. No mini events or even flurries. I got sad when the heavy snow shifted north with that event in January lol. What's interesting is in January 2010, we had a big winter storm that went west to east and stayed suppressed with alot less blocking and this past one shifted north.
-
April fools lol
-
Imo, if we get a +pdo and -amo, we should see colder winters more often. We are due for that soon I believe.
-
I give the winter a B- because we did get a significant winter storm end of last month. Ridge was too far east out west. In my area, we got glancing blows of cold air except for end of January where we had a solid week of cold. We typically get 1 winter storm, but occasionally its twice a winter.

168hrs out, the gfs was showing a monster storm close to the BM, which looks to verify but the euro wasn't at that time. Its just going to get going north and east of DC imo. Location matters most of the time.
-
Icon is a conservative model, especially with snow from what I've gathered and since its showing this, watch out!

You would have thought the gefs would have shifted way east but didn't unless the gefs sucks in general also lol -

If the gefs still looks good, then gfs has some merit, albeit not as strong as depicted. -
MO/KS/AR/OK 2025-2026 Winter Discussion

I don't see anymore snow/ice if the ao/epo don't trend negative imo -
Im still hopeful we can get a March snow event. We have had our biggest snows ever in March in our area.

Imo, its a brief pna spike. Always about timing, but this time its a little bit more tricky -
Without the euro on board, probably not happening. Still hopeful we have one last chance in March.
-
Where yall are, winter can last a long time since higher elevations help. We don't have that here. Mid March is typically the limit for us.
-
I personally would like one more opportunity here, mainly snow. It was a decent winter event a few weeks ago. Im glad it was mainly snow/sleet. Imo, we would probably want to see the epo trend negative before we had a realistic chance. Or a -ao. West tennessee avoided the real cold weather this winter, as compared to east of here. It will be interesting with el niño next winter and a +qbo with high solar.
-
SSW events are hard to predict sometimes. Later in winter we go, more chance to see winter weather is from ULL, at least in west tennessee. Yall in east tennessee have a better chance since you are higher elevations.
-
It was stupid to get rid of accuweather forums imo. It was very popular.

I agree. I am hoping things line up for another chance. Definitely don't like cold and dry or don't prefer cold and dry. Its fun tracking them for sure.

Up here in Paris, we got 5 inches sleet/snow combo, which is very compacted. Also, we got probably .10 to .25 inch ice. Not bad winter storm. Im ready for another opportunity lol

Ive heard talk about a possible pv split. Some type of SSW. Hope it happens to extend cold. Just prefer it not be cold and dry lol.

I live in jackson tn and im in paris tn currently and we have about 3in snow so far. Hoping the second round will be more robust in my area. 17 degrees also. Also hope we get another opportunity in February and early March
