  1. Car thermometer hit 100 driving home from Silver Spring this afternoon. (Beltway at 50). Down to 89 by home. My station hit 89 also for the hottest August day so far. Did not expect it. Eta: later climbed to 89.7 on the Davis, so I guess I have my first 90 of the month
  2. 1.52" this afternoon's storm.
  3. Maybe the Pitt thing was a false cover in the first place. He's actually in Tokyo perhaps.
  4. 0.01" for the day. Driving around a little this evening was rainier, but just shows how spotty it was.
  5. 73/72....back to normal summer humidity. Ends a 10 day stretch of low DP at my station.
  6. Thanks...Worth reading.
  7. Still pretty good for this time of year...3.2' at Little Falls: https://www.potomacpaddlesports.com/potomac-river-level.aspx?lnav=resource Years back, when I still could canoe, I think low flow was about 2.8 for float-n-fish trips. Water grows clear in dry periods too. Too clear. Fish notice these things.
  8. Low 59...surprised to make the 50s at my site.
  9. July total 6.45" Highest temp 92, lowest 63
  10. 0.29 today Monthly total 6.45
  11. Might be a good name for our band. Well, in 1988.
  12. Lows 74/73. One higher than yesterday for both, so possibly high of 90f today. But sky is quite clear here, and I could see us hitting 92 or 93.
  13. A dry spot wandered by here and dropped my DP to 71. AAFB is with us at 72, but KNAK is 77. Low temp was 73.
  14. I'm surprised we reached 89f before the storm came through. (Probably my max ) Got close to 0.4"
  15. I was thinking this last week. I usually set the cutting height on my mower low in spring, and then when the hot/dry comes along I start cutting it higher. Typically in June. But this year I'm still stuck on the low cut. It think in a week or 2 it will slow down. At least at my location.
  16. Even KNAK listed a DP of 68, but my personal swamp still clinging to 73 DP as of 7am
  17. The rocket ship adds a nice touch.
  18. Downright cool out there by recent standards. 82f on the bumper. KNAK reports 67 DP. Overcast protecting us from strong sun. (Of course, it'll be raining just in time for the weekend to start)
  19. Most of the mix-ur-own are petroleum based, (lasts better and stronger), but you can get water based, which we use for clothing: Martins Permethrin 10% (hope that's the right one) Unfortunately, it's a chore to mix a batch and do all the clothing, hang it in the barn to dry, etc. But, if you're the organized type, (I'm not), it's good. Also have a Sawyer aerosol can so I can quickly spray my boots and hat anytime. Lazy but convenient. Part of our aggressive tick management plan, started after wife caught Lyme disease some years ago.
  20. 0.75" from last night's storm. And, add my station to the list of crazy lightning locations. Strongest T&L we've had in a few years, and without much wind.
  21. 1996 (Maybe I'm going back too far for the youngsters)
  22. 1.27" in yesterday's T-storm, plus a few more hundredths overnight. Was a loud T&L storm, but no high winds.
  23. Hearing from our beer brewing crew in 3, 2, 1 ...
