I think that means average as of Jan 22...if that's what you're getting at. I declare that that big blue snow streak along the Gulf Coast has broken the map. I guess LA to be at over 800% of average (or more). They've run out of colors. Historic, IMHO

Not overdone for our little section of tidewater, (the South ) 100% fast ice here. But I am interested to hear about the larger rivers, especially if someone has traversed the 301 bridge maybe. Nice map.

11 low so far. About 13 when I awoke, but had sudden drop an hour later. Might hit 9 or so.

Low of 11 here. Lowest DP was 2, so didn't feel it was likely to get below 0 even if cloud conditions improved.

11.7 and still falling when I left home. Might make 11f for the low. Drove across the wide South River on Riva Rd bridge and it was frozen bank-to-bank. Looked like fairly thin ice, but seemed to go to the Route 2 bridge at least. Apparently some Northern Virginians have moved to east TX...(the notice is from the Independent School District. Commentary from my daughter) Comical that they had to turn off comments, presumably from smart-ass students. The adjoining District closed.

Our snowiest months have been similar (tho slightly colder): Jan 1996 and Feb 2003 each only one night in single digits. Feb 2010 none (BWI). (Well; they only have 7 inches of snow, so may be jumping to conclusions.)

My coldest day here...hi 30 from low of 17; and somewhere along the way DP was 6. Full sun too

This morning the flowing side of the swamp (downstream of the dam) was iced over. This is a new level of winter for us. (Swamp plus tidal South River have been well frozen for some time now.) My low was 18f overnight then warmed a bit by dawn.
