  1. Losing Aaron Rodgers on the first series is the most Jets thing ever. And losing to the Jets with no Rodgers is the most Bills thing ever.
  2. Sandy was well modeled 8 days out, never mind hinted at!
  3. Snow in Idaho! Brrrrr indeed!
  4. I think 30 years is good for weather norms. Thats a generation or so. What people lived through and experienced in their memory vs. whats happening today. So this summer isn’t really anomalous. A tad cool, but not anomalous. Going back 100 years isn't practical for the average joe planning a picnic or a farmer putting in alfalfa. For Climate norms, we need to go back 10,000 years. Or more. JMHO. Figure out what ended that last ice age and then why the Holocene has been relatively warm since the last ice age, and relatively stable compared to the Pleistocene , and why sea levels have risen for the last 4000 years. Its not exactly geologic pace, but the climate over the last 14,000 years has been insane to the point where there actually are massive geologic features all over the place on account of an abrupt climate change that melted the ice sheet. Its been busy around here…relativity speaking.
  5. Met summer is going to turn out to be, what, like -.5 or something?
  6. Those high DPS in January did us in last year
  7. Only if there is an emergency landing situation.
  8. A frontal system will affect the area with the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon and night. The main threat is for damaging wind gusts and large hail. However, a brief tornado is possible, and mainly north and west of NYC. The Storm Prediction Center has placed most of the Tri-State Area under a Slight Risk (isolated to scattered) for severe weather. In addition, the Weather Prediction Center has placed the area in a moderate to slight risk for excessive rainfall with a low risk of flash flooding anticipated this afternoon and night. yay.
  9. My summer ends around dec. 11. Starts up again around 12/24, then ends again around jan 4, then return for Feb, and then winter comes back march 20 through may 1, then summer fires back up may 30.
  10. I am starting to look forward to winter.
  11. We need a good winter. Many spirits are broken around here today. I sold my sleds last winter and the shiz winter was a lot easier to take mentally, so for me the hobby is just the snow storms and whats otg. Sill sucked this year but I was less invested. If we can get some baraclonicity this winter from warm coastal waters maybe something will pop a couple times. Not sure if there is evidence there is a meaningful impact from it.
  12. And that is how you spell an anomaly, which a top ten cold month is.
  13. We haven’t, but places in the western US certainly have. Our time will come
  14. Kinda looks like a washout. Sucks
  15. My wife had a deer situation in Chappaqua NY last year. A bunch of cars were stopped on a road and traffic was stopped. My wife noticed a deer lying down in front of the first car, clearly hurt bad. Everyone from the cars were looking at the deer and paralyzed with fear about what to do. She asked someone if they had a knife, and some guy produced one, and she proceeded to cut the deer's throat and put it out of its misery on the spot. The horror in the eyes of the Chappaqua-ites! For context, my wife is a school teacher, Bio, Chem, and Forensics, and her parents are both veterinariens. I also gave her her own deer-slaying knife.
  16. Yucca was about to open in the mid 2000s then got spiked for environmental reasons. I guess it was built on a fault line. In the meantime, the waste material from Indian Point for example is stored at Indian Point, also on a fault line. All nuclear power plants in the US store their waste on site which will be the case essentially for everyone's lifetime who are posting here now. There is no solution for the waste. NYC traded Indian Point power for a damn project power plant in Canada and we are reliant ~20% on that now. This is great, except the waste is still there on the fault. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Anyway, NYC is plugged in via extension cord under Lake George to our grid. The Indians in the area of the damn claim the waters as some kind of ancestral lands, and there are already court cases about the project and water flow, and the native fish that the damn disturbs. Its just a matter of time before that gets shut down IMO and NY will not have a plan if the courts go against the project. We have a lot of natural gas in this state, but we won't tap it. Hell, it's illegal to add a natural gas line to a home that doesn't already have one in my county. So I have to use electric for my stove and my furnace is oil. I have few options. I think this is a way to ensure the NY power projects get more business $$$ from electric heavy appliances as opposed to some environmental concern. Otherwise oil furnaces would be banned. Oil furnaces in new construction is a thing here.
  17. My town is under a state of emergency due to flooding, north of HPN.
  18. We saw he show from the lower hudson valley. We were hoping to see a sunset but got the lightening instead
  19. The only reason I am optimistic for the upcoming winter is because its the only winter we are getting this year.
