  2. Its become evident over the past week the beating the trees are taking with the lack of rainfall and the heat, some trees turning early with faded colors and more and more yellow and brown leaves each day dropping.
  3. 50 here the past two mornings.
  4. Looks Iike digital thermometers are to blame or placement or just bad record keeping perhaps… @Rjay thoughts?
  5. 50 for the low, got the house down to 60 downstairs and 65 upstairs, refreshing.
  6. I ran some numbers, looking at actual rainfall IMBY for met summer up to now (Jun 1-Aug 12) and it confirms this is the driest summer to date here: 2005: 5.79 2006: 10.39 2007: 13.06 2008: 8.49 2009: 18.26 2010: 9.91 2011: 14.65 2012: 10.08 2013: 21.34 2014: 7.61 2015: 9.42 2016: 11.62 2017: 10.26 2018: 14.21 2019: 8.41 2020: 8.28 2021: 9.99 2022: 4.39
  7. I had to weed whack for about 5 minutes, twice since I last mowed on 7/4. Will still be at least another week before I'll need to mow, if then. Incredible.
  8. Yeah, local farmers are going to have to scramble for supplemental feed this year.
  9. Hey Rich. Well the atmosphere decided to remove any doubt giving me a high of 92 on the day. The front is moving through now.
  10. I lied, the sun came back out and I just hit 90. 90/77
  11. I think the streak will end at seven days for me, clouds rolled in this way, high of 87 thus far. 86/76 currently.
  12. My Old Man used to tell a story about a forest fire up in New Hampshire when he was a vollie up there how one of the Indian tanks carried a precious cargo…let’s just say the water was frozen in the form of ice cubes and I’m sure you can figure out the rest…
  13. https://www.nytimes.com/1999/08/06/nyregion/ground-fires-scorch-acres-of-the-hudson-highlands.html Mt Beacon burned bad in 1993, somewhere I have VHS footage of it from the Newburgh waterfront.
  14. You can still see the scars on Storm King from the last big one in the mid to late 90’s as I recall.
  15. Oh no, here we go. A big one? Edit: just saw the post, multiple fires.
  16. My longest streak of 90 or higher for the high temp is eight, set in 2013. Yesterday marked day six, will I tie that streak of eight tomorrow afternoon? Thankfully there is relief in sight this week regardless.
  17. .20 today, maybe the stuff to the west holds together to add a bit more to the days total.
  18. Low of 73 at 12:18am…that’s just plain stupid in these parts. 82/76 currently, which is just as stupid.
  19. I was looking at the archived Drought Monitor maps for this time of year, which go back to 2000. The first week in August of 2016 looked very similar to the current map but my records indicate that I wasn’t running a deficient in rainfall like this year. Think I lucked out with a couple storms back then, much like some have this summer.
  20. Last mowing was 7/4 here, no idea when it’ll be needed again, certainly not this week.
