  1. I drove over to see my Mom in New Windsor and observed that's the State and County maintained roads have a nice layer of salt on them. The Town of New Windsor...nah. Most of the roads are fine but there definitely ice patches, some large ones too, on the local streets.
  2. Yesterday I had a high of 52 and low of 6 at midnight. Down to 4 now so a 48 degree swing in 24 hours. And thanks to sublimation and warm ground to start my coating of snow is mostly gone this morning.
  3. No explanation needed for me but now that I think of it… it’s been a long time since I’ve had anything from there. Long overdue.
  4. I treated my deck as I was skating on that earlier. I need safe access to the beer fridge.
  5. I saw them out this morning with full loads of salt ready to go. Based on the Google traffic maps they look ok around here so far. A public service announcement though, if you don’t have a garage I recommend going out and opening and closing your cars doors, mine definitely had ice already and took a little effort to open just now.
  6. A nice coating of snow on everything here, I’m sure the sun will take care of some of it tomorrow
  7. Looks like the crew is already on site making repairs. I hope so at least.
  8. I heard it was closed for flooding earlier, now we know it was a little more than just water!
  9. Back down to 46 and the wind picked up a bit when @snywxnoted it earlier. Looking at the radar and looking like the heaviest of the showers scoot out to our south and east for The OC anyway?
  10. Was 42 when I woke up and calm still, warm front has since moved through in the last half hour, up to 52 now. It's a little breezy but fortunately the stronger winds have been to my east and south so far, gusts just over 10mph. 1.14" total, pressure down to 987.4mb and still dropping.
  11. The models have certainly sped up the front, tomorrow with be a nowcast for sure with the timing of the freezing temps and if there is any precipitation left right before/ as the freeze arrives.
  12. Stuck at 34 and there are still slick spots on untreated surfaces
  13. All the way up to 34 here now, have had some sleet, some snow, some freezing rain. Untreated surfaces were slick earlier.
  14. Winds chills Christmas Eve morning
  15. I finally found some time to come back to this. Here is 12/80 from the Yorktown observer and it reflects similar to the Walden observations. Was it a case of a midnight high on 12/25 perhaps?
  16. There's definitely potential out there on Friday, it'll just be a 'game time decision' based on how Friday evolves. Makes prefect sense to err on the side of caution. Honestly, I was kind of surprised to read Upton's thoughts on it this morning.
  17. Depends on which model you look at but maybe as early 5-6pm over there? The front will have to be monitored on Friday. The good news is that Upton not expecting a flash freeze.
  18. Says the guy who cranks space heaters so it doesn’t drop below 80 degrees in his room
