It’s looking very possible that our low of 37 the other day could be our only low in the 30s as we enter November. There have been 9 times in recorded history that the temperature hasn’t gotten to 36 or lower by the end of October, and only two at KPIT. Latest first 36 is 11/9/1902. The latest in the KPIT era? 11/5/1950. Let’s hope this winter is at least a little like that one.
It sticks in my mind that the record Oct at MDT is a +6.5 departure relative to the current normals. So if month to date is +7.5, it would take a +4.5 or so the rest of the way to “achieve” such ignominy. The warm nights could make it close.
The models really, really backed off on the northward extent of the heat next week. And it’s not just the GFS, the Euro did too, albeit to a lesser extent.
Sometimes this hobby causes us to think about things we shouldn’t. Like possible unseasonable warmth I won’t even have to contend with because I won’t be home (and will in fact be in an even warmer, more humid locale). Not even sure it’s rational that it bothers me.
@Bubbler86, my weather app shows warmer for days 6-10 than it did yesterday. Haven’t looked at the overnight models yet, but I assume I can safely say they’re bad?
How soon after the injury was the wave? I missed it too, but I’ll admit that initially, before I realized the severity, I thought it might be one of those injuries where the player stayed down longer than he needed to, for momentum reasons.
Latest first freeze is 11/21/1922. Latest first freeze in the KPIT era is 11/11/1994. It’ll be interesting to see what happens for sure. The 10/26 date is the latest first 30s.
First freeze has been in November 39 times on record.
There are exactly 8 times we’ve made it past today’s date without dropping into the 30s, and 7 of those 8 occurred prior to the KPIT era. Record is 10/26. Weekend looks a tad warmer than it did before. Another alarming record is in jeopardy.
Isn’t that the guy Tomlin didn’t trust to kick a 45 or so yarder against WFT last year in a tie game with a few minutes to play?
(That’s a shot at Tomlin, not at this kid. Good for him!)
