  1. The wind damage from gloria was definitely worse here in suffolk county, at least that’s what my dad says, I wasn’t born yet. From what I’ve read wind gusts might have been as high as 115 mph in eastern suffolk and western suffolk probably had gusts to around 90 or so, which is similar to sandy. But I don’t think there were any big storms that took out a lot of trees like Irene and the 2010 noreaster did before Sandy, prior to Gloria, so maybe that was why damage appeared worse. Surge was definitely way worse with Sandy; Gloria hit at low tide
  2. Hit 91/69 for the high today, so officially a heat wave here in Lindenhurst
  3. 92/72 for the high today, currently 91/70 . Not as humid as yesterday but heat index still hit 100
  4. Also that storm earlier had some wicked C-G, only got skirted by it in Lindenhurst but some of those strikes were only within a few blocks of my house
  5. High of 92/74 (HI: 102) today, hottest day so far this year for me. Also first heat index over 100 this summer here
  6. I think it was july 20 and 21 2019 i had dewpoints in the mid or upper 70s and temps in the upper 90s those days. July 20th last summer reach criteria too but we were kept with an advisory on the island
  7. Hit 85/76 here for the high, felt pretty miserable out although we barely hit heat advisory criteria
  8. Hit 80 for the high here yesterday, already up to 77/74 now, feels pretty nasty out
  9. Finished July with 7.84” of total rainfall, the wettest month here since August 2011
  10. They have a really long way to go though in the SW, ground water and reservoir levels are still at record low levels. I think the recent drought monitor discussion said the colorado river and great salt lake are both at their lowest levels ever
  11. Went down to 57 here this morning, felt great
  12. Hit 89 for the high here todah
  13. Our electrical grid is somehow good, at least in my neighborhood specifically, but the lack of storms gets frustrating sometimes. I guess it’s a south shore thing? I haven’t lost power since Sandy here and that was only for 3 days. Even in Isaias and in that big downburst in 2019 (probably the only true severe storm I’ve ever seen here) much of the town lost power but my block came out ok.
  14. Hit 90 in lindenhurst today, dewpoint was only around 60 so it was actually fairly nice outside, minus the mosquitoes of course
  15. I’m in Jericho, that storm was parked over us for a couple of hours. CG lightning was insane here, back home in Lindenhurst I would have probably been in the same boat as you lol
  16. Pushing almost 2 hours straight now of heavy rainfall, lightning and thunder has calmed down a little but it’s still there
  17. I take back my last comment some insane c to g here in Jericho lights are flickering at my job
  18. Seems like the storm is both crawling and weakening I thought it was going to be here already
  19. Never saw hail once until I saw it twice in one day back in 2019, now I’ve seen it every summer since then surprisingly
  20. I forgot to ask this last week, but why is it that Elsa’s rainfall seemed so much heavier than your typical 40 dbz rainfall, 50 dbz just now in this passing storm didn’t seem nearly as heavy as the rainfall was when I was driving home from work on last thursday morning
  21. Pretty good lightning show here, even though the core of it came ashore just east of here, no wind or anything.
  22. Had the same reading here, was absolutely miserable earlier when I was mowing the lawn
