  1. Just glare from my crappy phone quality unfortunately, I was able to see the ring of fire perfectly in person but it caused a lens flare when i took the pic.
  2. Absolutely amazing, my phone camera did not do it justice. Was literally night for a couple minutes, jupiter and venus were visible too
  3. Up in Lake placid for the eclipse hopefully these clouds remain thin through totality
  4. Almost sounded like a huge gust of wind here, then I realized my windows were closed
  5. Holy shit just felt an earthquake here in Lindenhurst
  6. Winds seem to be picking up again, Ill admit I was wrong when I stated the winds were only gusting to the 40s some widespread 50+ in the lastest PNS https://www.weather.gov/media/okx/windpns.pdfhttps://www.weather.gov/media/okx/windpns.pdf In terms of rainfall, 2.24” here in Lindenhurst. On a side note it looked like a tropical storm outside at times with the heavier rains earlier today, definitely didn’t feel like one though with the wind chill around 30.
  7. Im going to have to agree honestly, peak gusts were probably around 45 mph or so here. There were definitely worse storms wind wise this past winter.
  8. 9.01” is my monthly total for March here in Lindenhurst, hopefully as we move deeper into april a drier pattern emerges. Happy Easter everyone!
  9. Final rainfall total here in Lindenhurst of 2.21”
  10. Recorded a gust of 38 mph on my somewhat sheltered station, been gusting to around 50 at the airports
  11. Up to 1.66” of rain here, road flooding is a bif worse than the last event, probably due to how water logged the ground is.
  12. It’s wild how badly people drive when the weather is crappy. It’s like no rules of the road even apply anymore
  13. Getting some pretty big gusts out here tonight, surprised there is no advisory in effect
  14. Picked up a final total of 2.14” in Lindenhurst, today isn’t too bad out, I guess, despite the wind and greyness.
  15. Up to about 1.5” here, minor to moderate road flooding all around town
  16. Looks like another plume of heavy rain about to move through too, probably add another half an inch or so to our totals
  17. 1.03 here after 1.20 earlier this week, roads have filled up in the low spots but nothing serious
  18. Farmingdale only gusting to 33 seems suspect, it sounds/looks way stronger than that outside.
  19. Drought was pretty severe in 2022, at least for LI and SE New England, the trees were literally turning brown in August. Though that summer was extremely humid if I remember correctly so we didn’t have any triple digit heat along the coast
  20. Red sky at night, sailor’s delight
  21. Did anyone else notice Westhampton jump from 18 to 31 in the past hour? That’s pretty wild honestly, shows how fragile perfect radiational cooling conditions can be.
  22. Final total here in Lindenhurst was 4.4”, now up to 11.9” for the season. If only that death band was a little further north
  23. Moderately snowing rn, visibility is probably down to half a mile. Eyeing around an 0.5-1” on the ground and streets are fully covered. If only that band was just a few miles further north
  24. Final total of ~5.1” with this storm here in Lindenhurst, I’ve had covid for the past week so I honestly was completely oblivious to this whole event becoming a snowstorm until the WS Warning was issued. This must be what it feels like to be a normal person lol
  25. Winds are gusting pretty strong here right now probably ~40 mph or so. Not really expecting any power issues around here considering my neighborhood made it through fine with 55 mph gusts in the last couple wind events
