  1. Far from perfect here on the south shore, still only 34 here. Wind off the water is going to do that though so not surprised
  2. The last higher end event that actually reached expectations/forecasts was the storm associated with the Christmas cold snap last year. I do feel 75% of the time the wind is weaker than predicted and then every once in a while we get something like the event a couple weeks back. Looking at model runs yesterday and they were way off as well, besides the HRRR (40 mph), every model had my area getting gusts in the 50-60 mph range. I believe the HRRR had the axis of heavy rainfall over the right area as well.
  3. On another note radar estimate has me at only 2.44” and Farmingdale 2.68 when both locations are a decent bit above that. I was just thinking before that this rain seems heavier than what the reflectivity is showing, too. Judging by that there must be some spots approaching 4.5” at this point
  4. Up to about 2.8” here in Lindenhurst, winds are only gusting around 35 mph not sure I reach even advisory criteria at this point. Kinda unfortunate since I did want to test out my new kestrel but oh well…
  5. It sounds like I’m starting to get some stronger gusts now after a bit of a lull earlier, probably around 30 mph now. Havent really felt/seen anything that would be higher. 1.27”
  6. I was taking diff eq for the first time this fall… not fun (at least for me), especially when you don’t have the greatest professor, I had to withdraw.
  7. Yeah getting some ~40-50 mph gusts here, well at least according to the ear test, some of these gusts are making the house creak
  8. 2020-21 and 2021-22 were both decent winters though for parts of the region
  9. Up to exactly an inch here between today and the rain that fell sunday into monday
  10. Reminds me of Dorian, Bahamian government reported there was only 86 fatalities yet people that were involved in helping with the aftermath said it was in the hundreds
  11. Picked up about .80” overall between yesterday and this morning
  12. Getting some lightning now, winds gust probably 35-40 mph. I think I’ll alright but if we get anything in the 45+ range that might be an issue
  13. Up to about 2.3” here, the core of heavy rain is missing to my north so I’m assuming this should be mostly it. Maybe another quarter inch or so
