  1. The models generally blew it today. Was looking like low to mid 60s and more clouds.
  2. Yeah, that is an interesting part of meteorological history. Until 1950, U.S. Weathermen Were Forbidden From Talking About Tornados - Atlas Obscura
  3. Hope it goes well. I’ve had stones but no obstruction before. Clicked around and found Williston ND would have a 9:45am sunrise in late Dec. LOL. I understand people not liking the clock switch, but it really is hugely helpful the further north you go. I’m more afraid we are going to end up with an unwieldy patchwork if locations are allowed to do what they wish.
  4. Falls Church, VA 1/3/22 - 8.8" 1/7/22 - 2.8" 1/16/22 - 2.8” 1/28/22 - 1.2" 2/13/22 - 0.5" 3/12/22 - 1.7" Total: 17.8” (94% of climo)
  5. This is very reminiscent of the upper Plains. The footprints from earlier in the day are filled in, but it is hard to make measurements that prove that more snow fell.
  6. And down to 26.0 not long after. Not bad for mid-day on March 12th.
  7. Considering temps, wind, and snow, I think this is peak storm right now.
  8. Temp rebounded to 32.5 in the lull, but it has started snowing again.
  9. Temps started to turn down and the wind has kicked up again closer to DC. 30.7
  10. Prior owners screened in the carport. It doesn’t handle the windy snow well.
  11. Lowest vis at IAD was 1/4 mi, DCA 1/2 mile. DCA did have gusts near 50.
  12. A nice wintry scene but it isn’t going to add much to the seasonal totals
  13. I think we might have some rimed flakes mixing it still. It certainly is loud at times against the windows.
  14. Holy crap, you just blew my mind. 33.3 in Falls Church. Mulch and roofs are covered. Visibility is probably under a mile, but by no means a white-out.
  15. Its all snow here in Leesburg. I can see snow on the cam at 7/28 just north of Dulles. It is coming, I just want it faster.
  16. 0.31” rain for CoCoRaHS. 36.9 degrees. The changeover line sure moved more swiftly through MD than it is VA.
  17. Traffic cams have the change just west of Haymarket/Gainesville along 66.
  18. 5z HRRR has 0.3-0.4” precip after the changeover for many of us near 95. That number is fairly consistent across the models. A wind blown 2-3” is looking decent.
