  1. Issued all the time before a storm, to warn people something's approaching. Seen it many times where a watch is issued and turns into an advisory, not a warning
  2. I left my shop in Simsbury heading to south Farmington...made it 2 miles and turned around. Wicked icy and we don't even have the good precip yet.
  3. I hate to agree with this, but I do. The ensembles are where it's at ...the OP runs are like throwing drunken darts
  4. Yeah, if we're still getting this look tomorrow afternoon I'll start getting excited. At least we have something interesting to track
  5. It has been in the "news". I think it was in a Friday afternoon information dump last week
  6. Nice! Yeah, my 77 Westfalia still has the gas heater. Its next in line for resto. My 83 van has a factory auxiliary diesel heater. I'll heat the interior from 30° to about 70° in a few minutes!
  7. It completely depends on size and brand. Most units I've ordered have come in within six weeks. I do have one that has been on order for two months and still waiting, however its supposed to be in soon. Probably once we actually have snow on the ground
  8. Well...Neversource has warned us that this may happen. Fine with me, it keeps calls coming in for generator installs!
  9. LOL...well, I have two beetles both 1975s a 77 camper and an 83 Vanagon Diesel. I restored that green one in my garage including paint. Its gone to shows 300 miles from home no problem!
  10. If that part of the glacier is already floating on the water, isn't there already displacement from it regardless of whether it's attached to anything?
  11. I still can't figure out how to post pictures. The file is always too large
  12. Yeah that Euro looks like a Pacific flood
  13. Euro USED to look interesting at 90.... now even 72 hours is a stretch
  14. A few mangled flakes last night were all we got. It sounds like just up the street had a couple inches
  15. During this time of lack of storms to track, I really need to try and find our blizzard of '78 pictures! The storm that cemented my interest in weather as an 8 year old
  16. That's cool...especially because it was this same event as an 8 year old in Granby CT that cemented my interest in weather. (Also the Windsor Locks tornado a year later). We already had an awesome pack in '78. I remember we had gone to the bus stop Monday morning and the bus was late. A friends mom came by and told us school was cancelled. We didn't really understand because it was only flurrying but found out why soon enough! Late morning my dad came home from work and we all had to help my neighbor get his truck unstuck, it was blocking our driveway. We ended up being out of school til the following Monday. To this day I swear that the official measurements for this storm are way on the low side. I was only a kid, however both my dad and grandfather said they measured about 28 inches in both Granby and Simsbury...and my Grandfather was NOT someone who would not exaggerate. I would love to see something like this again! By far the closest we've come in this area was the 2013 blizzard. More snow, but less drifting here. If it hadn't happened on a weekend I believe the impact would have been different. It took me two long days to completely snowplow my route, and at the time I only had like 15 driveways.
