  1. '88 was the first decent winter we had in northwest CT since like 1983. Then it was back to pretty much suck til '92
  2. I guess I remember all too well roughing houses in the late 80s in tee shirts after Christmas hoping for even a dusting of snow, or even a day around 32 degrees instead of flirting with 60. Then came some awesome years in the 90s when even then anything but flurries before the holiday was gravy. I guess these more recent years the early snow just doesn't stick in my memory except the "October Snowstorm" Something by the way as an electrician I hope to NEVER experience again!
  3. I was going to say that you sound very young...and then saw your Bday. If you're nearly as old as I am...and have lived in this area most of your life you SHOULD know that the area usually doesn't have meaningful snow 'til after Christmas. Especially West Hartford. Even where I'm from in Granby this is true, and we always had a fair deal more than the Hartford area! God, I feel like I've said this a million times already...
  4. Same thing here in Simsbury. No ice and 33 at 5:30, now 31 and the driveway is icing
  5. 32 at the house and had 30 driving from Westfield to Simsbury. Many icy spots on the back roads on the way, however 33 at my office.
  6. More wintry in Westfield this morning then pretty much anytime yesterday. 33° and flurries in the air. Looks nice out the shop window.
  7. It kind of looks like what the Canadian ( I believe Canadian IIRC) was showing yesterday. Block holds energy offshore, as energy dives in... it is strange looking
  8. In general, no. Most years in the notch of CT we never expected it before Christmas. On the rare occasions we did get it, it was gravy. This is going back to about 1976... earliest I remember
  9. I was twenty-two and remember that storm well! Where I was living in Granby we had about a foot but just a few miles east towards the airport there was pretty much absolutely nothing. An acquaintance's Christmas tree farm up in Riverton had to shut down because of it
  10. LOL!!! Was that run up with a clown snowfall map algorithm? I just about spit my coffee
  11. Just under 2.5" in Westfield. Best snow last night was when it looked the worst on radar. Just 1.5" at my shop in Simsbury
  12. I'm in Westfield, we have 1.5 on pavement and almost 2 on non paved
  13. An inch and a half on the pavement, inch and three quarters on non paved here. Still S- but lightening.
  14. Yes they do. As I've said to others at least a couple times lately, I never expect accumulating snow before at least Christmas week. Growing up on the CT/MA line some of the best winters we never had snow til after the holiday. If we did, it was gravy. I think some here need 30 more years of weather watching lol!
  15. We had quite the storm is Westfield. The drive in to Simsbury this morning was interesting, branches and small trees down everywhere
  16. That's true even in Far Northern Connecticut. For years we would never expect any meaningful snow until Christmas time. So many bridge jumpers now...
