  1. Mixed light snow and sleet in Westfield 29°. Was doing the same at the shop in Simsbury
  2. At this point, fine with me. It would feel like more with the duration
  3. Yeah... but isn't the red flag precip forming below the DGZ after its been going a while? I would say that's what keeps us from the six inch type totals
  4. Not always. There are some better all seasons, however some that are labeled that way are totally useless in the snow. See it all the time in the valley on the sports cars. But yeah, the lack of driving skill is alarming also
  5. Agreed. Part of the problem are "all season" tires that might as well be a racing slick. It amazes me how many drive on totally inappropriate tires in winter in New England. That and just terrible driving skills (cell phone)
  6. Yup! That's when I started lurking here, The only thing that comes close is 11/12 after the halloween storm. Even then we had at least a few couple inchers to track
  7. Good idea. Just as things may be waking up..or at least something to track he drops crap like that
  8. I don't know how long you've been around here, but you should know to not pay Twitter Mets any attention anyway. Also watching the SSW for a pattern change is usually useless as tits on a bull as far as I've seen since its been a thing talked about on this forum.
  9. Oh I agree. Just warning them of the possibility.
  10. Exactly. I think it was Will who went through that last year. I warned my snow plowing buds way back then the averages could be against lots of snow
  11. A surprising snow shower at my shop this morning. Snow, sleet and 28
  12. We've gone from talk of hoping for an HECS to materialize, to talk of HEMD and bad gas at the grocery store
  13. Well I was just going to type something along these lines, but you said it for me. And the news yesterday from CDC saying about 30 percent of the available U.S. doses are going to waste because of overly restrictive or P.P.P. rollout plans is just annoying. All while others are D*cking around on useless endeavours...
  14. WAY too early to be looking at OP runs for specifics. We just need a signal there for now, details later.
  15. Mother nature walked in and said bend over...with old man winter right behind
  16. Blizzard of '96 was the one I was thinking about specifically now that you mention it. Several years ago someone had posted a chart showing the state of the Atlantic during some of our more memorable storms. It made it clear how much more than just the Atlantic is needed to work things out. Seems to get forgotten here...
  17. If memory serves (probably not) haven't some of our larger storms come during a weakening phase of a - NAO
  18. I remembering it happening all too often, and not just January. But the difference was some years lots of arctic cold followed by warn cutter then back to cold. There was one year, maybe 1991 where we were practically in T shirts working outside in January
  19. I just finally got a copy of the K.U. books. Guess I'll have some time to study
  20. Agreed. Times like these I'm glad work is crazy and I have other hobbies to distract. I do however miss quiet evenings tracking storms with an adult beverage...
  21. An inch in Westfield and 2.5 in Simsbury. Usually never happens that way. Light snow and 29
  22. Yep. I'll be in the garage...getting the cars ready for spring
  23. Nice pictures! That's the storm that started my interest in weather, especially winter weather. Someday I'll find the pictures my parents took...I think they're on slides lol. Between this and a storm about a week before it we had a tremendous amount of snow on the ground in Granby CT. I've always felt that the measurements of this storm aren't exactly correct. Speaking with relatives about it and seeing a pic of my grandfather with a yardstick nearing 30 inches leads me to believe that some areas received quite a bit more than official totals. No school the whole week. My mother was surprised they cancelled school for a few flurries, but it didn't take long for that to change
