  1. Agreed completely. How old is this planet, 4 billion years give or take a few hundred million...that's how long climate change has been happening. I personally am not sold on the human component. And there's been lots of talk of fast flow, not denying that. But I've seen more slow moving east coast systems in the last decade than the previous 3. What's that old proverb? May you live in interesting times!
  2. That was one bright spot of the late 80s for sure! We were on the cape for Thanksgiving with family. I remember in the morning predictions of an inch or two. The forecast couldn't keep up. We ended up with 18 inches in Truro! It was wild because I'd never been up there in the winter before, let alone see snow on the beach
  3. You're lucky! Born in '70. Blizzard of 1978 is what got me started on my weather journey. By the time I was old enough to really get involved in trying to understand how it all works we were deep in the 80s. It was terrible, I think we only had 5 snow days through my 4 years of high school!
  4. Yes, but I was more so talking about some of the previous discussions
  5. The FV3 GFS is all over the place until about 6 hours to go time...
  6. That's what counts to me. I don't care if it's an inch or feet as long as its white and I can drive in it! Still light snow/sleet here
  7. Thundersnow here in Westfield the last 15 minutes. Everything is covered and roads are terrible!

  9. I was just on a job site in Canton Connecticut in the hilly terrain probably about 900 feet, Significant ice is starting to accumulate and 30゚. However down at my shop in simsbury just a few miles away no ice and 33゚
  10. Agreed completely Tip, It's comical! From my perspective most seasons we've only had flurries at best before Christmas/new years. I'm sitting at 25 inches and still have a layer of crust in a good deal of my yard......
  11. The last one I remember that was down in The Valley was way back in 1973 or 74...I was Just a little tike and we were living in Granby CT. We were out for several days and had that go stay with my grandparents. I can't remember anything anywhere near that scope in this area since
  12. Yes...7 to 10k for a home standby depending on size and the particulars of the install at your home
  13. Hey, I can fix that when the test is ovah! Just never want to see another Oct 11 snowstorm situation again. We worked 34 days straight re hanging/replacing electrical service cables!!
  14. We still have a thin crust hanging on for dear life in Westfield. About 60 percent coverage. We should have a small amount left tomorrow but it won't last long! Merry Christmas and happy Holidays to all of you!
  15. Oops...didn't realize the mere mention of Florida would bring up the Dr. Dewpoint. On another note, we still have 60 to 70 percent coverage here in Westfield.
  16. A little OT with the current discussion...but LOL at the gfs in Florida at the end of the run... high entertainment value!
  17. There's actually snow starting to mix back in here now that the heavier precip has arrived
  18. Moderate sleet in Simsbury now. Roads have been coated up quite nicely
  19. I noticed that yesterday over there finishing a generator installation. I was surprised to see that much still otg by the airport. Close to the same up here in Westfield, about 9 inches left.
  20. 2.5 at the house in Westfield. Only an inch at my shop in Simsbury. I can't believe Granby schools are closed!! I measured an inch at most coming through town
  21. Sleet has been falling on and off for a couple hours but now snow is really starting to mix in good. Surprised that there's sleet starting to accumulate on Rt. 20 already. Off to bed....we'll see what 4:45 am holds for conditions
