  1. I love Tips 50,000 word descriptions, but prefer the 25,000 version
  2. Surprised to have 1.5 at my shop in Simsbury. This area is usually a local snow hole compared to Granby, Canton etc.
  3. Looks like some of the plow crews are on holiday break, not lots of plowing/treatment done here yet. Nice actually, I love driving to work on unplowed roads
  4. Hit a really decent band through Southwick / Granby. Unusual that there's more in Simsbury than Westfield. 1.5 inches at the shop
  5. '88 was the first decent winter we had in northwest CT since like 1983. Then it was back to pretty much suck til '92
  6. I guess I remember all too well roughing houses in the late 80s in tee shirts after Christmas hoping for even a dusting of snow, or even a day around 32 degrees instead of flirting with 60. Then came some awesome years in the 90s when even then anything but flurries before the holiday was gravy. I guess these more recent years the early snow just doesn't stick in my memory except the "October Snowstorm" Something by the way as an electrician I hope to NEVER experience again!
  7. I was going to say that you sound very young...and then saw your Bday. If you're nearly as old as I am...and have lived in this area most of your life you SHOULD know that the area usually doesn't have meaningful snow 'til after Christmas. Especially West Hartford. Even where I'm from in Granby this is true, and we always had a fair deal more than the Hartford area! God, I feel like I've said this a million times already...
  8. Same thing here in Simsbury. No ice and 33 at 5:30, now 31 and the driveway is icing
  9. 32 at the house and had 30 driving from Westfield to Simsbury. Many icy spots on the back roads on the way, however 33 at my office.
  10. More wintry in Westfield this morning then pretty much anytime yesterday. 33° and flurries in the air. Looks nice out the shop window.
  11. It kind of looks like what the Canadian ( I believe Canadian IIRC) was showing yesterday. Block holds energy offshore, as energy dives in... it is strange looking
  12. In general, no. Most years in the notch of CT we never expected it before Christmas. On the rare occasions we did get it, it was gravy. This is going back to about 1976... earliest I remember
  13. I was twenty-two and remember that storm well! Where I was living in Granby we had about a foot but just a few miles east towards the airport there was pretty much absolutely nothing. An acquaintance's Christmas tree farm up in Riverton had to shut down because of it
