  1. I’ll take these dry warm days for ever and ever! Winter will come at some point in the next 4-5 months. I will be missing this when it’s pouring rain and 34 mid January!
  2. Love the Japan pics! On my bucket list as well. Love ski season! Can’t come soon enough! August was always when Skiing and Powder magazines showed up. Teenage me got so pumped! I have Epic northeast value pass, Indy pass, and my Berkshire summit employee pass. If I go west I may upgrade my epic or use Indy. I used my epic pass last season a whole lot more than I used my ikon pass several years ago. I’m only 45 mins to Mount snow so it makes more sense. Stratton doesn’t push the needle for the extra 20 min drive. Stowe is a bonus for me. Okemo is an ok early season option.
  3. Killington was pretty fun this past Sunday. Walking required, but not bad. Chance of rain seemed to keep the crowds down. Skiing was fine with a few decent icy trough bump lines to be had. Met some pretty hardcore riders on the lift, one guy had skied 194 days this past season. Day 100 for me, I’m probably done. Good to end on a nice round number.
  4. Still going…. Hit Stratton one last time this past Thursday to ensure the May turns. I will say the warmth and sun did a number on it from the previous Saturday but coverage was fine. A fair amount of walking had to be done though especially in the middle. Also blew the clip off my climbing skin so I had to boot pack the last 250 vert! 99 days and the season is ever so close to ending from a days perspective but from a season length perspective I’ve got two more months to go!
  5. Killer day here! Hiked up to the top of Spruce Hill with my wife and dog. Great view! Highly recommended short hike if you’re in the North Adams area.
  6. Nice skin up Stratton today with a crew. Weather was absolutely perfect. Nice celebratory beer on the top deck and a great ski down.
  7. Didn’t get out as much as I wanted too last week but managed to get some high quality skiing in regardless. Jay Peak last weekend was excellent. Skied mostly woods and natural snow trails. Conditions were excellent considering the date. Sun was out sometimes and we managed to miss the rain drops. Monday was the worst weather day but the best ski day. We even managed to get some fresh snow Sunday am. I finished off the week with a trip to Mount Snow Saturday. Skiing was fun despite the cloud cover. They could easily open this coming weekend with how much snow is left. But interest is waning for sure. I’ve got another 6 days on the calendar. Golf, ski and bike combos start to make things more exciting for sure.
  8. Yeah I like that part of it! Anticipating ski season too. But weather wise those months suck. Like hippy says 11/15-12/15 suck!
  9. I’m not a big November or December guy. Windy, chilly, spitting rain, cloudy and dark. April can have some real nice days. It was pretty nice middle of last April. Though I don’t live near the coast. 65 here Tuesday!
  10. Had to make some quick choices yesterday. Decided on Mount Snow vs Magic purely based on driving time with the roads being pure garbage in the morning. Mount Snow’s mid to lower angle trees skied divine on 100+ mm waisted skis. We continued to find fresh tracks throughout the day. The foot plus of surfy skied pretty bottomless bedsides a few areas where the wind got to it. Everyone ran to the north face and it left the front of the mountain basically untouched. Snow even near the base stayed dry enough. My son made their instagram page! I will say despite not having much in the way of steeps Mount Snow has been a fun time this season especially the last few weeks. The trees are fun and for me that is what I care about. My middle aged body doesn’t need the gnar all the time anymore. I enjoy skiing Mach ten through open woods airing off little hits more than I like butt pucker gnarly lines and cliffs these days.
  11. Snow isn’t really making it up to Mount Bohemia. Rough winter for the upper Midwest. They closed a few weeks ago. 26-39” might have got them back open.
  12. Everyone in this house is all done skiing apparently. The eye rolls I got when even mentioning snow and skiing.
  13. I’d like to see the snowfall numbers for Washington and Katahdin this winter. Not that much can be measured up high.
  14. I’m pretty hopeful for Southern Vermont on this one. Let it rip! No sleet!
  15. Berkshire East still going strong! Skipped over some better options up north for local turns Saturday with good friends, sunshine, and parking lot smash burgers. Can’t beat it! Skinned up this afternoon and I will say there is still plenty of mounds, race starts, loading areas they can destroy moving enough snow around to get another day or two out of it.
  16. GFS crushes the whites and western Maine Maine. Still snowing at Saddleback Friday evening.
  17. I don’t think this thing is dynamic enough to cancel school. It is April. Wednesday maybe if it’s mostly sleet and ice. Thursday is probably a delay for a lot of schools. Roads clean up quick this time of year!
  18. Watching this closely. Waiting for that white unicorn for 6 years now. The one day I have a snow day and my kids don’t. My district tucked up in the nw corner of mass has had zero snow days this school year. My kids have had a few but they are down in the valley.
  19. Looks pretty nice for at least a few days after the next rain storm. I hope the mountains can have some spring skiing in actual spring.
  20. It’s gonna pour next week. I’m just hoping for more snow in the mountains.
  21. GFS continues to be reasonable. NAM is doing NAM things. Seems like the rain is more east though which is good, well for us western New England folks.
  22. I made a quick trip today to Mount Snow. Legs were still a bit cooked from the weekend but I managed just fine. Skiing was pretty good. Weather was not so good. Cloudy, spitting rain and breezy. Groomers were very nice, natural was good where it had been skied but very manky in some of the off map stuff. Couldn’t stay too long because I had to go to work, but I felt satisfied none the less.
  23. My friends in Portland who hate winter won’t like that. Honestly though who lives in Maine and hates winter?
  24. I often ask myself why I don’t live in Rangeley. There really is no where else like it in New England. Skiing was totally incredible, two days of bliss! Saturday was classic storm skiing, constant refreshers all day long. Untouched in Casablanca way into the day. Sunday was over 20”(way more up high) of blower powder. Some places were pretty wind blown but often as you got lower and in the woods it got better and better. Mule skinner was insane, knee deep turns on the fat waisted skis. I could have walked away from my season after that run and said “I’m done!” It did get pretty busy Sunday but you would never know it, the Rangeley was ski on and the Kennebago had a 5 min wait after we had skied many runs.
  25. Dumping steadily down in Rangeley. Skiing was pretty damn good.
