    It’s interesting to see the 601 traffic cam in Bluemont VA has a coating, but others around the area don’t.

    Yeah I guess so. It’s still within the forecast range assuming fgen and good rates. But I’m looking at the higher resolution stuff and obs at this point

    Even a 2-3” deal would be the best snowfall of the year in my yard. Interested to see the thermal situation over the next few runs. It’s been suspiciously close to 33°.

    Congrats everyone in Richmond. Northern neck missed again, but it happens. I’m interested in the wind tomorrow.

    3k NAM seems too dry? It is snowing in spots north of the nc/va line but the model doesn’t depict that at all. It’s also missing stuff in NC as well.

    Are you getting any flakes right now? Further west seems to be. It’s weird the 3k NAM dries out so much but the other one doesn’t. I don’t know if that’s a known thing it does.

    Hopefully we can at least cover the grass again because it’s ugly after being smushed by the glacier.

    I hate sharing my thoughts, but when I do, it’s most likely to be in the warm season. I also am not confident on synoptic level stuff so I’m not great at tracking winter storms.

    The SPC MD says 0.05-0.1”/hr. The precip ahead of it seems to have beefed up a bit too, which I don’t like. The crust is nice and shiny though!

    Heard a scary cracking noise outside. The sky is orange I think. Still waiting on this ice squall thingy, but with 1/8” already I hope it isn’t too bad.

    Measured 1/8” of ice here, think the temp is dropping in the area but hard to tell.

    Decent rate freezing rain right now but it’s been fluctuating in intensity. I think temps are close to freezing but just slightly below? I woke up late so measured 1 & 1/8” of snow/sleet/ice. Local station at 30, but that’s south across the river. edit: seeing 31s pop up now so the changeover to plain rain may be close.

    The sleet line looks like it’s just south of Murfreesboro, TN right now. Can’t tell if it’s slowly drifting north or just sliding east.

    It sucks to waste all this cold air on this. I don’t think I’ve been able to track a successful winter storm since I started having an interest in this field, so I have no clue what to look for aside from textbooks and stuff. It really helps me to have experienced it before.

    We switch to rain here in the NNK unfortunately which hopefully doesn’t wash everything away. At least on some guidance.
