  1. I'm not seeing less QPF than 12z. It's not too different, but it is a bit more according to TT.
  2. Might as well get Ellinwood to paint you in the pale grey right now.
  3. It's already been established that 28F in 2024 is more marginal than 28F was in 1974, so just accept it and move on.
  4. It's delivering huge bumps of copium to all on this board right now, and not one of us is going to turn it down. The question is whether the GFS brings news that the NAM's goods were laced with fentanyl or if it was pure.
  5. Exactly. I think we get too hung up on the details of long-range looks during a very specific period when we should take all guidance across time as a general guide. As always, the look for any week from any model run could hit perfectly, but that doesn't mean that the model was necessarily "right" since it's likely the look it gave was different on a previous or subsequent run.
  6. It was 10F in my corner of Burke when I checked at about 8:00 this morning, so I think it's fair to assume it may have dipped *just* below that.
  7. I want to extrapolate the f*ck out of a perfect vort pass.
  8. I thought the 12z was a bit more consolidated around the Lakes and actually dug some more. I might be wrong, but if that had gone out about 6-12 more hours it may have looked halfway decent.
  9. If National recorded 4.1" then I may have to up my own total.
  10. This kind of stuff is infuriating. I know of too many people in the same situation and there's never a truly legitimate reason given for wanting people in the office. A lot has to do with these companies that invested in commercial real estate and their fear that their investments will go south if people continue to work remotely, but they'd rather just say "We work better when we're all in close quarters with one another" or some nonsense. I'm moving to a new project this month - this one is fully remote without any physical office to report to. I'm moving from another government organization that used to require us to be in the office five days a week prior to COVID, but now we're hybrid with loosely required two days of in-office per week (and that has been ticking up a little in the last six months). Really looking forward to knowing I'll never be asked to be in the office for some random meeting or something, and that I can pick and choose days to go work from my company office. Since my wife is a freelance editor, she's also at home and often just needs me out of her hair during the day.
  11. There's no doubt that the paved surfaces were too warm to cave with rates like they were. Things were covered when I woke up, but it was only 0.5", so it melted from beneath before too long. Then you get just a little insolation and already-wet ground, so snow won't pile up with meager rates. I was honestly impressed with how easily it accumulated on elevated surfaces and grass given the rates!
  12. Why would it concern you? Are 20s nowadays warmer than they were 50 years ago?
  13. I'm going with 4.00". Might have been a little more since my timing on measurements was kind of shoddy, but whatever. Things ended with that tiny bit of freezing drizzle this morning. Kids are up my arse to get them out sledding!
  14. 12/6: T12/11: 1.25"1/1: T 1/14: T 1/15-1/16: 4.00" Total: 5.25"
  15. Liking the trajectory of the returns for another couple/few hours of reasonable snows in Burke. Can’t really beat snow falling for most of the day in cold temps, even if the totals aren’t anything huge.
  16. Definitely picked up over the past hour. Just measured another 1” on the dot, which puts Burke at 2.25” so far. Would love to add another inch before things shut off so the kids have some good snow to play in tomorrow!
  17. There should be no virtual learning on snow days unless we somehow have a massively backloaded winter and the kids can't get into school...and even then I'm not really for it. Kids should get some days off for snow so that they can get outside in the snow and be kids, if nothing else!
  18. Woke up to 0.5" in Burke this morning and it's been snowing lightly since about noon-ish or so. Picked up about 0.75" in that time. Nice winter day!
  19. Huh. Flurries in Burke at 40 degrees.
  20. It’s not a real storm until Ellinwood has MBY in grey.
  21. Vodka and bourbon tonight, but the effect is the same.
  22. I’m secretly loving the meltdowns right now. But I guess it’s not so secret now.
  23. The Euro washed out after being the snowiest solution for 36-48 hours. No model has “won” as of yet and no model will when all is said and done.
